OK, I gotta admit, I have new respect for Bill O'Reilly...

His interview with Sarah Palin, while deferential, asked a lot tougher questions of her than the softballs that Hannity threw out.  Actually, not a bad interview, even though he fed her a lot of clues on how to answer the questions.  At one point he told her that she "booted" the answer to Katie Couric's question about which newspapers Palin read.  As she struggled to answer O'Reilly's question as to why she blew it, he suggested "did you think she was being condesending?" and sure enough, Palin's answer included the word condesending.

I was impressed that O'Reilly asked some tough questions, and based on her answers and overall demeanor, Palin showed that she's just "not ready for prime time".

And I'm sorry, but when I close my eyes and listen to her, all I can hear is Frances McDormand as "Marge Gunderson", the sheriff in "Fargo".

Yah, you betcha!

Palin is making a killing getting publicity for her book that outsold Hillary . She cares nothing about being President :)

The McCain camp did not do a very good job vetting her. The only reason Palin was chosen was to hopefully poach a large number of angry Hillary supporters from the Obama camp and swing the election.

The liberal media seized on the idea that she was not qualified and exploited avenues to make her look unqualified to everyday citizens.

The strategy to select Palin worked until the financial crisis struck and McCain botched his response, not that Obama's response was that great. All McCain had to do was say he would vote "NO" to the bailout and he would have won handily. The problem arose was that both had accepted hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign contributions from the financial industry over the years. Either one opposing the bill would have meant a contribution backlash at a critical time in the campaign.

I am not going to believe that Bill O. is a moderate or liberal. He is a conservative. However you can actually listen to him unlike Hannity, Beck or even Dobbs.

I can imagine the next Vice Presidential prospect will be vetted with the following questions:

1. What newspapers and or magazines do you read?

2. Do you have any children?

3. If yes, is anyone pregnant or had children prior?

4. If yes, are they of legal age or were they of legal age?

5. Is the child a result of a marriage, LTR or other circumstance such as an affair, marital infidelity?
