Any sane person knows there's not a chance that a Constitutional Amendment to abolish the EC will ever pass. So people signing petitions to abolish it are doing what some have called "pissing in your blue serge suit." Meaning, it briefly gives you a nice warm feeling and nobody knows you did it.
