...considering that a cloudy as shit country like Germany, who gets as much sun as the state of Maine, has transformed itself to get a massive amount of their energy from solar power.

See, they do this neat thing over there. People can get gov't loans to buy solar panels and have them installed on their homes. Those home owners then have the incentive to be energy efficient, because left over power can be sold back to the grid at retail prices, which pays for the solar panels.

The result? A country as fuck country like Germany leads the world in solar power. There are no brown outs or black outs over there, because everyone's neighbor is a mini-power plant.

We could do the same thing here, and to much greater success since most of this country is SOUTH of MAINE. But we have chosen not to. Why? Because we won't give people cheap loans to install them, and we don't let people sell the energy back to the grid at retail prices, making it economically unfeasible for most Americans to install them.

But hey! Look at the bright side. Within a generation, New York, Miami, and New Orleans could become lost cities of Atlantis due to the rise of the oceans, but at least we made sure that no one would threaten the profits of our nation's electric companies!
