The 112th Congress wasn't significantly any different than the 113th, and the 112th passed fewer bills than any Congress in the last 100 years. They even did less than what Truman called the "do-nothing" Congress.
So if the GOP in the House won't do shit on anything, how is Obama gonna get them to move on things like the economy? Has he even gotten them to do shit with immigration yet?
I doubt if he will default on all govenment loans, the only viable option.

but defaulting is probably more politically feasible than raising taxes on the rich.
I've never been through a furlough, but I doubt one will happen. Unlike a nation like Greece, we have our own central bank. We can keep borrowing until the cows come home.
That's probably the only way to completley eliminate the national debt.
I have heard rumours of one-day per week furloughs for fed employees, leading up to a possible federal government shut down...Personaly I think it's just hype.

I've been hearing more talk about it in the office lately, but I think the political environment is different than when it was in '94. I doubt the GOP wants to push a gov't shut down. They're having popularity issues as it is. But if it happens, it happens.
