Average cost of going through a pregnancy to child birth and after care is $9,000 for vaginal delivery and $12,000 for C Section.    If this coverage becomes an option with most single and divorced men declining it, insurance companies will spread their cost by jacking up premiums for this exact group who declined it in the first place.

People that already paid for their insurance and had their families should support those that haven't?

I'm not even arguing that the policy is a good or bad one. I think we should support the family structure and support American's having more children. That might be best directed through the Fed, not through indirectly taxing people that can't afford it.  

I paid for my kids. I paid those premiums. I'm not having more children. Why would I think it's okay to increasing my health costs to support others? Not just for this but for other things as well.  I would think a tax incentive, a monster one for having children would be a far better way to handle this. Not taxing (by increasing rates) others that may not be able to afford it.

Maybe we should base our policies on personal responsibility.
