Rudy: what a miscalculation.

Thompson's inauspicious campaign ends with whimper. To think people saw Ronald Reagan in the guy.

It sounds like somebody woke him up from his nap to say a few words, and he was dreaming he was Dubya.

or deluding themselves?

really, what were his "supporters" thinking?  this guy was the darkest horse in any political stable i've ever seen.

so, where do his followers go to now?

BTW, will we soon see RudyG tossing in the towel?

If he show's poorly there, he is probably done. He's hoping to win. . . all those transplanted New Yorkers you know.

He might not have fared well in Iowa or New Hampshire, but even if he pulled 3rd place, people would have remembered he was running.

He has to win BIG in Florida to have any chance.

I think rudy has been positioning himself for Super Tuesday all along, once the Huckabee comet streaked by.
Rudy isn't a fool. Neither are his people.
He's not out of this race yet... but if he does not make a VERY strong showing on 2/5, he's done being a candidate, and back to being a backroom powerbroker.

Thompson was such a dark horse that he never even bothered to leave the stable except to go on the Tonight Show.

that horse had "Destination: Glue Factory" stamped all over him from day one.  How did so many blind themselves to the painfully, blindingly obvious?

Well, back to reading scripts for second-banana roles for Thompson.  I think that's what he's best at.

Rudy isn't a fool, but he's trying an approach I wouldn't gamble on. When the people look at the caucuses and primaries so far and they don't see his name, would they think he's even electable now?

I know he's probably blitzing the Super Tuesday states but it seems to me that in a primary, the things you must do is keep your name out there and show people that you can win. He might have had limited funds, but it's not like he was getting any donations while he ducked out of these races.

... and all his trophies were cleared out of his office. They even tossed in a one liner ---
"this isn't Arthur Branch's trophy room anymore, its a working office again."

He's still got his SAG card, and residuals from reruns, so he's probably not too worried.
