This is nice, "let's do it thinking," without the nastiness of "what if it doesn't work."

Like people who predict there will be no problems with cap and trade because innovation will produce jet planes that run on carrot juice or solar power will run NYC.

What if it doesn't work that way?  Do you have a Plan B when the Paki leadership says, "We are a corrupt bunch of klepto-oligarchs that already have half a billion stashed in Geneva. We don't need your stinkin' dollars that will be worth piss in 5 years."

I concur with your assessment most of the time.  Reality is, we primarily, and NATO didn't get the job done, nor put the time and effort into "our" WAR in AFGHANISTAN, it's been a continual quagmire, whatever your views on extending into Iraq (RWU).  

It's time to follow-through and present a reasonable game plan, to bring some sense of continuity to Afghanistan/Pakistan and that nowhere land in between.  Walking away or doing it by the seat of our pants with drones driven out of Langley, doesn't cut the mustard.  

This is a no win politically for President Obama, I am cognizant of, and respect the fact, he's decided to get it done.  We have not been getting it done since '02 and taking our eye off the ball, and needs to be addressed.  POTUS has got the balls, to step up and make the decision.  

Think of it like this, the US has had "burning dick" syndrome since '02, when we banged Afghanistan in '01, and didn't call the next day, however we ended up with the Burning dick syndrome and didn't acknowledge/address it with Penicillin when we needed to.  Then off we went to bang Iraq (with a Truck-stop Rubber purchased from KBR, which may have a few holes in it).  Our Dick continues to burn, now we've got an owner who has decided to bring in the doctor, and apply a necessary prescription, before our pecker fails.  

Oh, and a side note, Pakistan isn't going to give us the "punani" (nukes) because India is right next door.
