.....to the days I looked up to McCain as a man with class and dignity. He was a man we could admire even when we didn't agree with certain of his positions because he had integrity.

How I miss those days....Sarah Palin......Obama hysteria......what happened?

Like most politicians he eventually sold out to the highest bidder.

Campaigns cost money, and there aren't that many billionaires out there who can finance their own election.
Not even Trump relied on his own coffers; when push came to shove he was taking the green like any other political hack.

Show me a truly honest politician with integrity who puts country and service before themselves and has been in their elected office longer than a month. I dare you. And no, I do not include any current or former television shows, even though that's the only place you will find them.

In California, Richard Alarcon is about to be re-elected to office despite being ON TRIAL for perjury, voter fraud and jury tampering iirc. It seems the requirement to run for office now is to have a criminal record  and still be out of jail, as it indicates a knowledge of the system, and how to game it.

As for McCain, there have been plentiful stories about how he was never everything he was purported to be, from his odious abandonment of his wife when she was ill and needed him the most, to his sycophantic concession to the Tea Party in the form of Sarah Palin which might even have cost him the election.

They say they're fed up with the dysfunction of our government .....but yet keep voting for republicans.
The obstructionist positions of the Republican Party is a primary reason they hate DC. But they just don't seem to get it .
For example
Can you imagine how great it would have been had the republicans committed to tweaking or fixing the problems of the affordable care act rather than waste their time trying to repeal it.

Now they are threatening never to approve a Supreme Court Justice appointed by a lawfully elected president should that president be anything else but a republican.  So much for the big lie when they refused approving Obama's appointment . Then it was ...." We should wait 9 months until the next presidential election so the " people " can have a say ". Of course that turns out to be only if the " people" place a republican in the White House

to allow one of his old lady supporters to say Obama was a Muslim and not born in the U.S.  He very honorably told her he did not agree with Obama's policies but set her straight.  He said, Obama was a good man.
