Too bad for Nixon fans he has Watergate stains on his resume or he could be defined as great.

He was certainly an environmentally conscious President.
If Nixon was dictator and still alive, I doubt he would allow poisoning of  America's land and indiscriminate killing of beneficial insects via toxic chemicals, any death wish fool can purchase at their local store or online.

Who knows what the future will bring in our Presidents.
Electing corrupt politicians  worse than Nixon might become a way of life for America.
With the 2016 election on the horizon, that day could be  closer than we need.

I agree with much of the following, more complete list.

I would've  placed  President Bush and President Obama  higher on the list but close together.
I do respect both of them for the  good  they've  accomplished.
Their weak points from my perspective, much of  their foreign policies have been proven failures and dropped their  standings.

http://www.rantpolitical.com/2015/03/27/ranking-every-u-s-president-from-worst-to-first/

Lincoln is nowhere near # 1 in my list of great Presidents.
I wasn't indoctrinated in my youth with History propaganda books given to the majority of  High school and College students, showing only the good side of Lincoln.
I've read the other side of Lincoln, not nearly as kind.
I  believe Lincoln  could have freed the slaves, ended slavery in the U.S and avoided a civil war
if he was half as great a President as American  history portrays.

I've often found if I want an accurate  picture of History I look at many perspectives on the issues and form a more truthful version of realities in the past.

Never underestimate the direction  future generations might go.
Not likely at all, though possible, in 30 years President Bill Clinton, President Bush and President Obama are charged with war crimes .

If you have no clue why,...............................

Try reading more  on your own and ignore polls that don't really matter.  :-D

I am never amazed by  purportedly educated citizens in the USA proving  themselves to be uneducated.
I am reminded  every time you reply to me, attending college is certainly not a guarantee of wisdom.

Nixon was elected because the American people were desperate to find a way out of the Democrat quagmire, Vietnam.
The Vietnam war ended under Nixon.

The war on drugs/marijuana was started the same year Nixon was born, 1913.

The earliest law against marijuana was  in California, 1913.
Marijuana was outlawed in 30 states by 1930.
Marijuana was outlawed by the Federal government in 1937.

Federal  Government actions prior to 1964, never missing a beat to put Black people down, Marijuana was outlawed when Feds  discovered it was easily accessible, inexpensive and enjoyed by Black musicians.

I'll give a try with  Daily Kook, Vox, and laffy's   partisan method  on twisting facts.

"Nixon started the DEA, The DEA sprayed Paraquat on marijuana grown on Federal lands, therefore all poisoning done by the CIA was ordered by Nixon."

Note: In reality the DEA sprayed Paraquat on federal lands for many years after Nixon was out of office, but in your defense,  when do you worry about reality or accurate quotes?

If so, that alone keeps him from being "great".....and that doesn't even count him sabotaging the Viet Nam peace talks to get elected.

I love how you brush off starting the DEA is no biggie and doesn't count.  He also said it was "Public Enemy # 1."  So while it may have been illegal before that, it wasn't labeled the "# 1 threat", hence the "War on Drugs."

Nixon's own aide said their War on Drugs was to go after black people.......so,  no wonder you love him so much.

Morphed the U.S. into a "1% oligarchy/corporatocracy". Terrible President. A well known conservative referred to him as a "useful idiot". Considering his scandal/alzheimer's ridden 2nd term, that's a very accurate description.

Reagan and Pope John Paul II are the two men most responsible for the fall of the USSR and the hold on Eastern Europe.

But yes, I will admit he is overrated on domestic issues. He did not rollback and repeal the great society programs. While Tip O'Neill and the left wing congress at the time would have fought him tooth and nail on that, he still should have fought to do it. But that being said, I still believe that he is in the top three Presidents of the 20th century, along with TR and Coolidge

As for Reagan, his morphing of the U.S. into an 1% oligarchy is responsible for many of the financial problems the U.S. is currently. As for Coolidge, many believe his overly laissez faire attitude toward the economy, paved the way for the depression under Hoover. In my opinion, the dude was a mediocrity.

Disagree.
As far as the financial woes we are experiencing, I blame Carter, who initiated the CRA, and the Clintons, who greatly strengthened the CRA.
Left wing social engineering caused the financial problems we are having today. And the current POTUS
has been pouring gas on the fire for the last 8 years.
The govt, both state & fed, with high taxes and ultra left wing agenda, has been destroying the middle class. I have been paying close to 45% of my income for almost 20 years. I am single with no kids. I take NOTHING from the public realm and yet they take almost half from me. How is that fair?
The lefties caused this 1% issue you speak of. Ever notice how the 1%ers like Gates, Buffet, Soros, etc.. are all liberals? It is not a coincidence.

And as for Coolidge, some may believe what you say, but I am not one of them. He was, along with Jefferson, one of the most libertarian presidents we have ever had. Here is a quote from Coolidge:
"Liberty is not collective, it is personal. All liberty is individual liberty."
For me, that says it all

1) Banks HAD to create derivative products to make ANY amount of money because the FED GOVT was forcing them to give mortgages to minorities who had NO WAY of paying back those loans. This was all done in the name of social engineering and forced integration. If the GOVT stayed out of it, this situation would never had arose. The CRA was forced social engineering and it caused the housing crisis and all problems rippling from it.

2) The housing boom started under Clinton. But yes, I do agree that Bush should have raised interest rates and restored us back to sanity. But guess what??? Bush was not a conservative!!!
He was a neocon, which is basically the same as a liberal. The only difference is that neocons support the Israelis whereas liberals support the Palestinians.

3) Do you really think BHO is a good president? Even the most left wing person, if he is truly honest, has to admit that he has been horrendous! What has improved since he has taken over? The last 8 years have been an unmitigated disaster, and why? Because someone with no practical, real world experience was given the presidency. His only jobs prior to potus were community organizer, adjunct law lecturer, and state/us senator (for a brief period). It is no wonder he has been a failure.

4) 1%ers are overwhelmingly liberal. Other than the Koch brothers and Rupert Murdoch (who is not American), can you name a billionaire who is not a lefty? Even Michael Bloomberg, who used to try to pass as a RINO, is a lefty.

5) I am not a GOPer per se. I consider myself a conservative libertarian. I don't use drugs, but if others want to fry their brains, I say let them. And as far as marriage is concerned, I do not think that the state should have any involvement. That includes divorce and child support as well. If individuals want to call themselves "married", then let them, but the state should not have anything to do with that. Everyone should be treated as an individual. With no one counting more than anyone else. And no tax breaks for married people and/or parents. We should all pay a very low flat tax. That would be fair.

6) Sex toys, porn, etc.. Yes, some evangelical bible thumpers get involved in this area, but they are few and far between. Most politicians would be embarrassed to even bring these subjects up.

& If one say otherwise, they're naive/disingenuous. Lastly, I'd say he's cleaned up the mess caused by George W Bush, one of our worst Presidents, pretty damned well.

However, I , as a progressive & you, as a "conservative Libertarian" are not going to see things eye to eye, nest ces pas ?

No, we will not.
But, even so, I strenuously disagree with your conclusion about BHO.
Compared to all previous POTUSs, he is BY FAR the least qualified.
Even if you agree with his policies, you have to admit that.
And that has nothing to do with his race.
He has no private sector experience, no military experience, and very little political experience.
Anyway, nice debating this with you.
And without any name calling...isn't that something?
Have a good Sunday.

I guess being the President of Harvard Law Review, lawyer, Illinois State Senator, US Senator of Illinois, two term elected President of the United States is not enough? Lol

You are on a fuck site and saying he is the least qualified? Lol
Just stop it and your arguments does not add up.

So 25 of the 44 presidents have been lawyers; the WSJ law blog has a list.
Also President Barack Obama is the second US President to graduate of Harvard Law school.
The first and only other President, to do that was Rutherford Hayes 19th President

Just something for you to think about slim.

It must be really hard for you FM being on a fuck site and you cannot produce or post any current reviews. I know this makes you very insecure on here and you should be embarrassed.

I know you can't wait until November, when Hillary will be your new President.

Partisan hacks  are well versed in  misleading  ignorant followers.
Nixon never said he was declaring a "war on drugs" or starting a "war on drugs."

The fact of the matter, Nixon had sympathy for drug users, he started programs to help addicts  with their addictions, unlike White trash Bill Clinton signing legislation to mass incarcerate predominately Black drug users with extremely long unjust sentencing guidelines.
Nixon expanded the methadone program, helping heroin addicts to lead halfway normal lives.

By the way, Bill's corrupt drunkard wife, Hillary, also supported the mass incarceration of  Black drug users.

  An accurate  quote from Nixon.
"I am transmitting legislation to the Congress to consolidate at the highest level a full-scale attack on the problem of drug abuse in America. I am proposing the appropriation of additional funds to meet the cost of rehabilitating drug users, and I will ask for additional funds to increase our enforcement efforts to further tighten the noose around the necks of drug peddlers, and thereby loosen the noose around the necks of drug users."

I've recently read in the NYT and heard NPR speak  words to the effect, Narcotic use in America is no longer confined to the poor in America.
When I recently  read and heard those  statements from  NYT and NPR,   I thought to myself, have they been asleep and neglected to read factual history when they awoke from their slumber.
See below:

 Another Nixon quote from 1971.
"Not very long ago, it was possible for Americans to persuade themselves, with some justification, that narcotic addiction was a class problem. Whether or not this was an accurate picture is irrelevant today, because now the problem is universal."

If I'm not mistaken, Nixon said Drug abuse was public enemy #1.
 I  agree.

In 2014 there were forty six thousand deaths from drug overdose.

That's not including deaths from alcohol abused, formerly healthy bodies, or
  deaths from drunk drivers.
