As I understand it, the new law stops cash welfare benefits after four years of receiving welfare. Exceptions are made for the disabled and elderly. But after 4 years anyone else should be able to get a job.  

     If you grant longterm cash benefits, there is no incentive for the deadbeats to get a job. There is always a concern about the children but private social services will have to step up. I believe here the cap was 5 years anyway, so all that is happening is one year is being cut off.

    With so many states in deep fiscal trouble, we need more laws like this.

in a state like Michigan where 99% of the people get services I wonder what kind of effects this will have on crime...

I dont wanna see any americans hungry when their is so much on wallstreet and the federal reserve..

99%?  I hate to break it to ya but your wrong.  Effects of crime?  Are you lumping the entire state into the perception of a city?
