I'm going to list two sets of US States. You tell me, which set would you prefer to live in.
Set 1)
1. Arkansas
2. Tennessee
3. Idaho
4. Oklahoma
5. Alabama
6. Arizona
7. South Carolina
8. Indiana
9. Florida
10. Texas
Set 2)
1. Rhode Island
2. Massachusetts
3. New Jersey
4. New York
5. Pennsylvania
6. Hawaii
7. Connecticut
8. Alaska
9. Minnesota
10. California
Taken as a whole, which set of states would you prefer to reside in?
What's the difference in these two states?
Well, it's obvious that the first set is far more impoverished. Their citizens tend to be dumber. Average incomes are lower. Obesity rates are higher.
In the second set, there's plenty of upper middle class citizens. Some of the best high care coverage rates in the nation. College enrolement and graduation rates are some of the highest.
But what really seperates these two sets of states is this:
Willy, there is no relationship definable as you ascribe to this breakdown of States. All you've done is show the States with the highest tax rates and correspondingly the highest amount of welfare handouts. And for the most part, those with the highest tax rates/handouts are democratic in nature.
What's new, unless you're now willing to start accepting the fact that dems are liars when they talk about cutting taxes because as you've shown, they like high taxes and they like giving it away to the non workers.
...is that states that do more recirculating of the wealth are RICHER. Why do you think that is, pwilley? Could it be that a local economy that doesn't reward a few people hoarding all the wealth doesn't lead to the wealth of a society as a whole? Who wouldda thunk it?!?!?
It's as if conservatives believe that the richer one man is, the more he will shine. Not metaphorically shine, but literally shine. And the artificial light he emits will fall upon us all and we'll all enjoy a utopia because of it.
That's fucking looney. It's servile grovling of high tech purse snatchers.
