Twelve Gitmo releases have in fact returned to the battlefield and killed six Americans, according to the best information we have, which is not very good, since the Obama administration has little transparency on this issue.

Nope, none of these guys are the Taliban Five traded two years ago – a trade that so  upset Jack and the other righties.  As far as I know, the Taliban Five are still in the host company.  We got our guy back in exchange for 5 guys that would have been released anyway.  No measurable increase in American kidnappings in Afghanistan –or elsewhere-  since then either. Hey Jack- are you ready to say you got the “something for nothing” trade wrong  wrong? Or are you going to go with …”maybe some day, they will run a red light in Qatar.”

Some degree of recidivism is inevitable. We know that for a fact from our criminal law system.  The problem with the “lock up forever crowd” aka the Republicans  is (1) no charges have been made against most of the guys released; and (2) it cost $400 million a year to keep Gitmo open which on a per inmate basis is a staggering 6 million a year per inmate if you believe the high estimates.

The 15 inmates at issue were not simply “put back on the battlefield ” as the OP states but were vetted by agency professionals who concluded that, based on a 2016 threat assessment, they should be released.

But wait - isn’t the death of 6 Americans at the hands of Gitmo detainees by itself enough to castigate President Obama forever? How did the OP miss that one?

Maybe not- the 12 who have returned to the battlefield and killed Americans, and indeed the overwhelming  majority of Gitmo detainees confirmed to have returned to terrorism,  were all released by the Bush administration.

Instead of using tax payer funds to jail, feed and clothe these ass-wipes, we are sending them back to the battlefields to be taken out by U.S. drone strikes. It's a win, win for everyone involved...lol

Dr. B's spot-on assessment of you and the rest of the "idiots" on this board.

This election will go down as the worst in American history thanks to the two horrifically embarrassing candidates.  The only thing more embarrassing is that there are some people who actually support these two jerks

........to around 40 or less prisoners before he leaves office. The cost of $10 million per prisoner will ultimately become too cost prohibitive that GOP House will agree to shut it down, probably during a lame duck session. The GOP pricks will want cover from Democratic House members during the vote.

It's much easier to have Hillary supporters calling Trump supporters idiots and Trump supporters doing the same to Hillary supporter. Requires no debate no knowledge no nada.

I'm a Hillary supporter but couple (or more) times I said something against her or the way Clintons do things (yes, there are things about her that I don't like and political positions I disagree with despite preferring her to the other guy - duh!) and I instantly got some shallow idiot telling me that I must be a Trump supporter.
Why would I want to continue having an intelligent conversation with those who need to fit their thinking into right or left wing ideologies? There is a guy here who is on the crusade against, as he calls them, "the Righties". Can you talk sense to such a person? No. Because his intellect is by definition is limited by his ideological tunnel vision. There are dogmas and platforms, whether liberal or conservative that don't allow any type of deviation. People who subscribe to either are usually defined as fanatics.

Can you discuss pros and cons of various policies and tactics with the fanatic? No you can't because a fanatic would inevitably resort to labeling and accusations. A fanatic would also quote exclusively sources that cater to his/her set of believes and ideology and chances are have little or nothing to do with reality.

Imagine if I were to say, let's discuss pros and cons of raising or lowing taxes, like when should you raise them and when should you lower them. You'd have the whole board suddenly divided along the ideological lines between those who believe that you can't raise taxes no matter what and those who believe that it's ok to raise them at any point. The idea that there are circumstances under which you should raise them and those under which you should lower them is anathema to one side or the other. Then how can you possibly discuss taxation with either side? I don't see it. This is one of many examples.

And how many INNOCENT people will die - 10 maybe 20 or 30 or more before the scumbag gets killed by a drone strike.

Now is it the money you are worrier about?
The cost of one of those missiles/smart bombs the fuel used for the drone, the maintenance of the drone and so on needed to kill one of those scumbags is enough to keep them in prison at GITMO for well over 25 years.

As for the cost of keeping them in prison at GITMO We need to stop giving them all comforts they are getting.
Give them a trial sentence then and treat them as prisoners.

And your astounding level of obnoxiousness and stupidity always delivers a laugh or two.

I need the laughs because what is happening on both sides of the aisle in this election is downright depressing.  America has never had a reason to be this embarrassed about its leadership before thanks to both the current officeholder at 1600 Pennsylvania and the future occupant
