I read this article on yahoo about this. Link is below. One of the co-founders of Facebook, Eduardo Saverin, decided to give up US citizenship to avoid higher taxes. I know higher taxes suck, but turning your back on your country? Especially when we are the reason that this a--hole is rich? I don't know. I really think this country and its people need to wake up and pull their heads out of their asses. We need to be a lot more nationalistic than we are and a lot more hardcore about putting America first particularly when it comes to the working man and the middle class upon whose backs this country is built. Our once great nation has now become a welfare state and a place for every border jumper and third world immigrant to get hand outs from. So sick of it. I know it's Valentine's but this article this morning burned me up.
Only works if you no longer live in the country.
If you are living in the US, you are still required to pay taxes. Giving up your citizenship alone does not get relieve you of your responsibility to pay taxes.
..........especially if one country is a low tax or zero tax Haven.
FYI America has always been a country of immigrants! The only true "Natives" are the American Indians and we all know how they've been fucked over by the ruling Majority class.

The vast majority of the rich, got rich because they worked real hard creating and building a business or the like. Seems you and the other leeches want nothing but hand outs. you want the government to tax those who worked hard for their money and give it to you in various ways, so you and your fellow lazy leeches can take a free ride on the hard work of others.

What ever happened to ask not what your country can do for you? It has slowly died with my fathers generation and its heart breaking to see. My grandfather enlisted right after Pearl Harbor, spent 2 full yrs, 2 tours in a B17 over germany and would hate much of what America is becoming. I remember seeing a check to pay his taxes, he was a farmer and self employed, and it was huge(to a 14 ur old). I asked him if he deducted ever single thing he could and he told me "this is a small price to be an american". I asked about donations to the church and deducting them, he smacked me on the back of my head and told me he didnt deduct them, there s no reason to.
I say fuck that. 50 homeless guys. Shitting on their heads. Put that shit on pay per view, and use the funds to help balance the fucking budget.

Lots of lips flappin' over the tax rate Romney paid in 2010. Blah, blah, blah about rate, offshore accounts, etc. Nobody likes to acknowledge the fact that the man paid 2.8 million dollars in federal income tax that year.
And 2.8 million is more than I will pay in my entire lifetime, by a long shot.

That is my only point. He paid 2.8 million, so any complaint about his taxes is saying that 2.8 million is not enough. Roll that number around in yer noodle, and imagine if you had paid 2.8 million dollars in federal income tax...and there were people complaining that you should have paid more!!!!
Or how about this: Imagine if, after paying what you legally owed the IRS, your neighbor across the street thought you were a crook and should have paid more!

Gimme a break. Mr. Romney's earnings in 2010 was 20 million dollars. That figure was in the news dang near every day for weeks as election day approached. And you didn't know that, right? Come on. So how much is fair? Half? 75%?

Doesn't the government take 25% of everything over 70k and it increases up to almost 40% in income tax? He paid roughly 17%... less then the effective tax rate for most couples earning 100k by a fair margin.
I dont know whats fair but why tax investment profits at a lower rate than income? If you believe that they wouldn't invest if rates were raised then state that but dont argue that what was paid is fair. Legal maybe but fair depends on your view point.
I agree with the very last part of your post. Where you state "depends on your view point". I think it's safe to say that Romney's taxes were legal, otherwise the DNC and the media would have been quick to report it. And from my viewpoint, if you are legal...fair enough! When I do my taxes, I take every exemption, deduction, and credit I am legally allowed. Don't you? Does anybody on this forum actually pay more taxes than they are legally required to? Is that the key to being fair, or being a better, more patriotic American...donating money to the IRS?
And speaking of donating, in 2010 Romney donated 4.5 million to charity.
I realize that most people probably become fixated on the tax rate that Romney paid. They see that the percentage he paid was less than them. Ergo, "Shoot, we paid more taxes than that dang rich guy!". And one last time, what I am trying to point out is the fact that when that couple earning 100k pays 20%, they paid 20 thousand dollars. When Romney paid 14%...it was 2.8 million dollars.
And my viewpoint is that 2.8 million dollars is more than 20 thousand dollars.
answer what is an acceptable "fair share", aka the marginal tax rate, except for willy. Willy will say 90% because from his point of view it worked in the 1950s, so it should work now. It's a stupid statement, but that's an argument for another post.
If Progressives commit to a percentage, then they are boxed in forever. No longer can they use campaign rhetoric statements like "pay your fair share", or "shared sacrifice", or "it takes a village". If Progressives commit to a percentage, how can they demand a future rise in the marginal rate to pay for even more social programs. Didn't you listen to the SOTU address. There was more spending, like universal govt paid pre-school.
Romney to the Progressives is the poster child of evil capitalism. All of his income is "unearned", i.e. dividends, capital gains, etc. Who is just as evil as Romney, well how about Al Gore? He sold Current TV to Al Jazeera for $500M. He gain was $250M. Gore completed the sale in 2012 in order to pay only 15% tax on his gain vs 20%.
Is Gore just as evil as Romney? Depends on who you ask.

You really should watch the news, once in a while. He had to release two years of his tax returns when he was running for president. If you google it, you can look at it yourself.
His adjusted gross income was 21,646,507.
But I did give the boy too much credit a few posts ago. He only gave 2.9 million to charity. But then again I short-changed him on his taxes...he paid 3,009,766.
And three million dollars is not enough, right?

You know, most people don't mind paying taxes, but when the bottom 50% pay NO INCOME TAX, I think the hypocrisy of people crying because the wealthy are tired of carrying everyone else is just repugnant.
The top 10% pay over 70% of the taxes, no wonder they are telling the other 90% its time for them to kick in THEIR FAIR SHARE!!!
