Is intolerance a defining characteristic, and whether someone is a conservative or a bigot depends on the degree of inherent intolerance

When he was intolerant of gays and a bigot, just a few years ago because of his religion, the Left said nothing.  

Now that he has changed, the Left is outraged at conservatives.

Is it possible for a person who describes himself as a conservative to be tolerant of different races, ethnicities, cultures, religions and lifestyles? Can these two characteristics or philosophies co-exist?

true conservatives believe in a level playing field and reward based on merit and achievement - we see individuals, not groups and believe in maximum personal freedom, specifically those freedoms articulated in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

we also believe in helping those who cannot help themselves but reject freeloaders

conservatives believe that two rules apply, don't hurt people and don't take their shit

they also believe in self-reliance and limited government cuz government is often ineffective, inefficient and corrupt

these concepts apply to all

anyone who broadly labels conservatives as intolerant is either ignorant, or is obfuscating their own ineffective ideas by demonizing those with whom they disagree

libs seem to be incapable of debating facts and merit and nearly always rely on the questioning of motives, name calling and slander to make their points - I use these boards to ridicule them when they do that

they also are fixated on taking more and more of what you earn to pay for shit that doesn't work, conservatives reject that

truly THINK that they are smart
