John Wayne Gacy may have been much busier than first thought....

Watching the news recently (Lester Holt), and a segment on Gacy caught my attention. 33 remains of boys 14-22 were found in the crawl space under his house. 8 Of those found were never identified. Those 8 were exhumed, and with DNA matching, it is hoped that their identity will be known.

Cold case detectives went back through boxes of evidence in the storage facility, and found several airline tickets that were overlooked initially, and Gacy used them during his murdering days. The tickets were to destinations that have several missing young men. 27 in fact. Detectives say that the MO is strikingly similar to Gacy's with these missing persons.

How this investigation will play out is unknown at this time, but if it is proven that Gacy, in fact, dealt these missing young men their final cards, he was a most prolific killer. Possibly 60 deaths at his hands....he's rotting in Hell for sure.

Who may have killed as many as 90 women, many of them streetwalkers.

Real piece of work.

pria, notice the qualifier, "a most prolific", as opposed to, "the most prolific", in reference to Gacy.

Considering the large number of victims attributed to the the Green River Killer, IMHO, there is a high probability that more victims may eventually be found that were his doing.

There was a movie in the not too distant past, based on true events, about a Russian serial killer. The name escapes me at present, but I believe Steven Rhea, (sp), played the investigator. The Russian killer's victims numbered in the hundreds. Primarily school age children. He was married, with a family of his own.

I think you have the correct title, and it was a good movie. Saw it twice, and still couldn't remember the name, lol. Damn, senior moments.

Been watching another movie, "Rosewood", based on true events, about the town in Florida, which takes place in 1923. It depicts the brutality and genocide by dumbass fucking white bigots, trying to kill all the blacks living there, because a white woman told a lie. I've never understood the hatred one culture could have for another. It's existed from the beginning, and will exist until the end of time. I know it, but just don't get it. We are all God's children....even Charlie, lol.

Another TV movie that touched me deeply was, "Sometimes in April".

Not all psychopaths are serial killers, but serial killers are always psychopaths. Psychopaths have non-functional empathy centers in their brains. A psychopath might break into someone's apartment and take a baseball bat to someone's valuables, and believe that such an act is a "practical joke". Psychopaths often have a history or torturing animals in their youth. There's always debates on what causes this or that disorder, but when it comes to psychopathy, it has been shown that the parents don't give their child affection.

become psychopaths?

Do children who do recieve affection still become psychopaths?

Mr.NoT, figuring out exact causation is a really tricky business when it comes to mental disorders. A genetic component is always possible. It's also thought that growing up in an impoverished household might also contribute to it, but it may be that psychopaths who come from wealthier households are better able to conceal their disorder.

Do all children who don't get affection from their parents become psychopaths? Almost certainly, no. But they may get affection from other places, and it would be inhumane to run a double blind study to find out.

I have serious doubts that children who do recieve affection from their parents will become psychopaths, not unless something externally caused the empathy center of their brain not to work (like a brain injury, for instance).

If you have little ones, hug them and tell them you love them. It might save someone's life. :)

Better yet..... It might save their life.

I took a somebody and her two young children to see Disney on Ice last night. The women in front of us had a 4 y/o with her and during the break I noticed the child was sitting alone. When I went to take a leak I saw the mother at the bar. When she came back for the second half of the show she told the usher thanks for watching the kid.   WTF !

Much of what you say is accurate, but its far more complicated than you've stated, as indicated by the following link :

There is some nomenclature confusion here, but it's just the result of redefining mental illnesses in new additions to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (the DSM-IV-TR). Sociopathy and psychopathy is what we call Antisocial Personality Disorder today. There's a similar debate going on in the field right now about renaming borderline personality disorder to Identity Disorder.

Also, the causes/origins of "sociopathic/psychopathic
serial killers" are far more numerous than you've mentioned.

I'm not disputing what you've said; actually, much of it is accuate. Just FAR more complicated than what you've stated. Try seeing how experts put subdivision categories within APD. The mind fucking reels reading this stuff.

WW, what does the field say about many of your peers who think they're able to diagnose a sociopath in under 10 mins based on a MOS alone ? That's what the exit witch doctor said. I won't post what I said back to him because unless I give all the details the thin skins here will cry racist.

Should serial killers, such as Gacy, Daumer, Speck, Bundy, et al, be executed, or kept alive with a sentence of life in prison,(absolutely no possibility of parole), so that their psychosis could be analyzed in all possible ways and means for future profiling? Opinions please.

...but I think it's a damn good idea to keep serial killers alive, just in case new crimes they've committed are discovered.

We already know a ton about what makes psychopaths tick. Maybe LE doesn't, but it is understood.

Like the young kid who can't pay attention in the classroom at the first sign of spring or because the teacher is horrible at the job but can't admit it.

The FBI says there are no less than 100 serial killers working in the US at any give time.

Fuck keeping them around to study at our expense. A Predator is a predator and they've been around as long as life itself. I think they should be cooked alive with giant frying pans on National TV.

It's funny how fast a  self proclaimed pacifist will change their views when one of these scumbags hits close to home. Almost as fast as the in your face atheist when the rockets start coming in the other direction.
