Here's the link:

Enjoyed your reminiscenes of your moviegoing past. Howard Hawks is one of my favorite directors & I always enjoyed his "Land of the Pharoahs." a fun kitschy ancient Egyptian epic, though it was a box office disaster in its time.

I can see you're also a John Ford fan, as am I.
One of my favorite films of his is the fine political drama "The Last Hurrah", starring Spencer Tracy as an embattled Boston Mayor about to embark on a fateful final election. A great film filled with wonderful Ford sentimentality ; I never tire of watching it.

We had just moved to a small town from the big city and my Mother finally felt safe letting her 12 year old wander the city on his bike alone. I’d never been to a movie by myself before. All I’d ever seen were a couple of Disney films and The Longest Day with my Dad at a Drive-In (I fell asleep).

It was a Saturday summer day, early afternoon and I discovered the local theater.  I paid my 25 cents to get in after looking at some pretty cool posters. It was Thunderball showing. I sat through 4 consecutive showings that day. I was in the front row and mesmerized with every aspect. That day I became hooked on James Bond, half naked women and movies. I think I also discovered testosterone that day, but of course didn’t know it yet.

Speilberg uses the same combingation of drama infused with a strong comedic element that was a staple of a John ford film.

The Last Hurrah is a great film; I wasn't aware that Ford directed it.

While I hated John Wayne's politics, I loved every movie he did with John Ford... sweeping, grand vistas combined with a strong story mixed with a healthy does of humor... And what was a John Ford/John Wayne movie without Ward Bond and in several cases Victor McLaglan?

UJohn Ford defined the classic American Western and directed my All Time Favorite movie, The Quiet Man

The movie poster collage was hand-picked and made up of some of my favorite films, both old classics, modern classics and some guilty pleasures (Eraserhead, for example).

Yes, I prefer watching older movies on TCM than anything else. Especially anything with Doris Day, Lana Turner, Rock Hudson and omfg Gene Kelly. lol.

I was freaking out when I found out TCM is having a film festival in Hollywood later this month!! I have already paid for this trip and am super excited!
