Politics and Religion

(Reprint) Ok, PoG, you want to discuss? Let's discuss. For starters, I believe

the King James version of the New Testament is a flawed, intentionally mistranslated tome.

"Tell me who's that writin', John the Revelator
Tell me who's that writin', John the Revelator
Tell me who's that writin', John the Revelator
wrote the book of the seven seals"

As much "faith" as you place in your belief system, I am equally convinced of the manipulation of factual history and reliance on superstitious dogma for control as being at the heart and soul of the King James bible, from which you have been quoting regularly and with reverence.

"Look, God walked down the hill one day
Called Adam by his name
And Adam wouldn't answer
'cause he was naked and ashamed"

The source of MY reasoning and belief system stems from far older writings than King James and revered by all monotheistic religions to ne degree or another. Whether you refer to it as the Pentateuch, the Torah, Chumash, or the secular perspective of a series of congomerated writings of ancient historians collated by the Redactor, the Old Testament is a source of Wisdom and Power, as well as being intrumental in teaching how that Power can be terribly abused. But it is still written and studied in the original language, in almost the eaxct form as has been handed down from generation to generation around the world for almost 2600 years.

"John the Revelator
Put him in an elevator
Take him up to the highest high
Take him up to the top where the mountains stop
Let him tell his book of lies"

Now I do not subscribe to the New Testament. But I have studied it. Extensively. In the original languages and in the original script in which it was written. The King James version, though being the most widely distributed and accepted TRANSLATION (italicized), contains marked differences and mistranslations when correlated with other texts from the period. Alas, the only way to properly illustrate this, requires the ability to read the original Hebraic script. If you can read it, then we can continue this discussion.

"John the Revelator
He's a smooth operator
It's time we cut him down to size
Take him by the hand
And put him on the stand
Let us hear his alibis"

Otherwise, even if confronted with empirical proof of the sheer quantity of errors within the text, be it the twisting of grammer to use the word "virgin" instead of "unmarried", or the altering of pronunciations so the phrase "chose water over wine" becomes "changed water into wine", you could not believe me, because your faith prevents you from accepting any other possibility. That in and of itself, is the greatest weakness of the True Believer.

"Seven lies, multiplied by seven, multiplied by seven again
Seven angels with seven trumpets
Send them home on the morning train
Well who's that shouting?
John the Revelator!
All he ever gives us is pain
Well who's that shouting?
John the Revelator!
He should bow his head in shame"

At the end of the day, any and all religion is about control. Everything old is new again. There are no such things as miracles, and a lie repeated often enough, becomes a historical fact.

Were you to study the writings of the "Ein Yakov" (the Eyes of Jacob) first person written accounts of events that took place between 2200 and 1800 years ago, you would read some very different variations of stories about a man named Yehoshua ben Yosef, a gifted young rabbinical student and carpenter. But that's for a later conversation.

So you think George Bush is John the Baptist, lol.
I thought you made up that poem.

When people have an issue with religion they will do everything they can to get people not to believe in God. The first thing they will do is attack the beliefs that come from the Word of God.

People make these attacks because there is something in the bible that causes them to feel uneasy in their sin. So what do they do, attack the message and the messenger.

Sin entered into the world because of disobedience to God's word. This has been going on from the beginning of time. It started with Adam and Eve.

Here is a contradiction. There is a command that says "Thou shalt not kill". As we know the Lord Commanded Saul (1st king of Israel) to kill everything. Take a look at 1 Samuel chapters 13-15.

Saul decided to keep some animals for sacrifices to God.
1 Samuel 15:22
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

God will do things out of the rules to accomplish his will/purpose. Many times when a city or nation gets to evil, the wrath of God comes down.
God wanted Saul to destroy the Amalekites for their evil.

God punished Israel many times for their disobedience to his word. He forgave Israel when they turned from their sin because of the promise he made to Abraham.

Some of the scriptures that I quoted from the New Testament dealt with people's unbelief.

I will acknowledge that it takes faith to believe in God (you can not see him).

Proverbs 1:20-23:

20: Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

21: She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

22: How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

23: Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

I am going to put you and asianelvis in my prayer list that God open up your understanding. The beauty is that God gives us a choice to believe and serve him.

If you were to die tomorrow do you know where your soul would end up ? As someone posted to be on the safe side it better to be prepared than not be prepared.

You are in the step to the right direction. You at least acknowledge God and believe he exists.

I've been dead before.
So, Yes. I do.

"You are in the step to the right direction. You at least acknowledge God and believe he exists."

I suggest you reread my comments. Nowhere do I state any belief in God or any other deity. I do not need to quote from  scripture, be it Old or New Testament, I prefer to form my own thoughts and opinions, based on lessons I learned, combined with the experiences of life. I learned at an early age that I could remain true to mmyself while rejecting and exposing dogmatic religious ritual for what it was. Pure posturing, without substance. Zealotry and blind insistence on the illogical, the impossible. A twisting of fact to suit an agenda of control.

I do not believe in the God of religious dogma, the one revered by Jew Christian and Muslim alike. I believe in Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds, and the best experiences are the earthly pleasures we are here to enjoy.

The only time I get on my knees is when I'm praying at the altar of DATY. My Holy Grail, is drinking the juices released by post-orgasmic pussy. THAT is my idea of the Nectar of the Gods; pleasures of the flesh befitting an Apikorus.

To put it bluntly, you wouldn't be able to wrap your head around my belief system, because you can't conceive of a belief system that does not include "God".

"fools hate knowledge"

Indeed.

You quoted some thing in reference to the Talmud. That is were the first five books of the Bible came from.

It would appear to me from your original post that you believe God.

I can tell from my experiences that I can feel the presence of the Lord God.

am I not worthy of the courtesy of your response? You were the one who wished to discuss Religion, yet you do not discuss it, you do not address ahny of the points I have made, you simply ignore my comments and express dogma.

Ergo, this leads me to believe you are NOT interested in dialog whatsoever.

How very typical of the Evangelical cults. You are not deserving of my time.
