There are more people guarding our southern border today than ever before and illegal crossings are at an all-time low (in part because our weak economy isn't attracting illegals the way it did.)
But god forbid the GOP confuse itself with the facts by letting them spoil a good punch line.
but anyone who has actually crossed the border recently knows that border security is a joke, but that it most likely always will be.
Border security or the lack thereof is not the cause of our illegal immigrant problem, the vast majority of illegals did not hire "coyotes" to smuggle them across the border, they simply entered this country legally and never went home. What we need to deal with is "what to do with them now?" not how high a fucking fence we need to keep the rest of "them" out.
I think the solution is rather simple, give them all some kind of limited, but legal status, and assimilate them into being full tax paying US residents, or take away their access to all public services. Anyone who wants to remain "underground" and not pay into the system should not be rewarded by being eligible to receive benefits, and employers should be required to hire ONLY workers who can prove status. The fines levied for hiring undocumented workers should be high enough to discourage such hirings.
If people cant' get jobs here without documentation, they will quit coming, or as you have pointed out, if there are no jobs here period, they will quit coming here as well.
...but have overstayed their allotted time than everyone thinks. But do you think they are Latino? I believe there are many Irish, Israeli, Russian, etc. who are here illegally but we're always focusing on Latinos.
I think most people don't think of the Canadian border.
I don't have any stats on the subject, but I think most people will agree that Hispanics make up the bulk of illegal aliens in this country, but of course there are people here illegally from every country on the planet, including a lot of asians that provide a valuable service in this country, sucking and fucking the likes of you and me. I guess I can only speak for myself, but I do my best to make their stay in our fine country as pleasant and profitable as possible.

One US/Canada border crossing is on the honor system. You're supposed to stop at a shack and call on a videophone to let them know you're entering the US.

Why is there no hue and cry about building a fence across the Canadian border?
I watched a documentary and their culture and lifestyle is different than Americans. They do not lock their doors, nor are the worried about being anyone entering their homes. Sounds like a great place for me to live except the damn cold.
And I don't remember much about ecstacy except that sex was fucking awesome, and the terrible for days crash of depression and exhaustion wasn't worth it as I matured. 
The border crossing is a bitch, whether you drive or fly. I have had an easier time leaving Bogota Colombia still drunk than I have entering or leaving Canada.
Of course I believe that building a fence along the thousands of miles of border that we share with either Canada or Mexico is a complete waste of time and money.
