the Michigan State lottery for several million, and continued to collect his food stamps? Happened a few months back. The ruling was that the food stamps eligibility is based on income from salary. Lottery winnings are not considered income, and therefore, he is still judged to be 'poor'. Too bad the IRS doesn't go along with that 'income' ruling.

....then you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Everyone's on the gov't teet. That's why we call it a government.
Not food stamps per se, but the corporate equivalent.
Corporate interests lobbying costs this republic cost far more than the poor. Between all the wars we're fighting on behalf of the oil companies
Crazy the FOX news also engages in classwar just like CNN..
FOX makes the poor out to be against the rich which is associated with being on the right, while CNN portray's the rich to be the problem..
You can see how this class warfare is working, rich against poor, right against left, old against young, you name it the news pits EVERYONE against everyone else and FOX is just as guilty for doing this as CNN and MSN..
The only reason civil unrest hasnt broke out yet is because of these social programs, if 1 in 7 didn't have their food stamps they'd go hungry and riot..
America should be able to feed the poor who wouldn't be poor and unemployed if the politicians didn't allow all these jobs to go over sea's..
FOX news promotes wars, which cost much more than ANY of america's social programs do ,instead of fox drilling the costs of these wars into people head the drill the cost of the social programs and vilanize the poor who recieve these services, while the msn's spin poverty and the pain of the poor in our country as being the right's/rich's fault!
However, this doesn't mean I'm very comfortable with this many people being on foodstamps, but my worry is more about how much control the government has over the people who need the to eat.. If the government creates a society of dependency they could and would use this power over the people to get away with murder..
What can the people do to stand up to injustice if the people need the government for everything..
