A few years ago when going to my local 7-11 for some lottery tickets. There were the usual hispanic young guys or so outside with their beat up bikes conversing. I knew enough spanish to hear one of them say he hadn't been able to find a job in over a year. I had also know of an young illegal girl at my workplace at the time who quit after getting pregnant to make use of the maturnity welfware(whatever they call single mothers with new babys) state handouts which probably paid more than her current hourly. The husband (claimed married under mexican law or whatever) was also undocumented. So maybe some of the later immigrants have found it too late and some went back home voluntarily. However it may be too late for the state to enforce the border now, as California is already multiple generationally mexican hispanic in all levels including local governments.
