Well. now Veterans can kill themselves with a gun

So, forget VA and Meals on Wheels.   Paul Ryan's Animal House just passed legislation allowing veterans with mental illness buy Guns.

I am not worried about all the righties and GOP men here.   If you "normal" folks live next door to a veteran who is mentally ill, make sure you and your family especially children are safe, may be move out.

The Federal Government

Does not Fund Meals on Wheels.  The states use block grants for a host of programs and some use it for Meals on Wheels.  

The proposed cuts include roughly $3 million from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, which funds Meals on Wheels and other programs, according to the New York Times.

Meals on Wheels serves roughly 2.4 million seniors, and costs nearly $1.4 billion, a year. But only 35 percent of the costs is covered by the Older Americans Act, the “primary federal funding source,” Bertolette told Military Times. “The rest is made up of contributions from state, local, private donations and other resources.”  

So 3 million dollars is cut from a program that feeds 2.4 million people?  

3 million cut from 1.4 billion?  

Someone's math is fucked up.    

Can I get a copy of the Meal on Wheels finances? What are their executives paid?  I'm certain we can find the 3 million somewhere...

Excellent point and so true.

Is Meals on Wheels the ONLY program in the history of western civilization that doesn't have waste fraud and abuse? Doubtful

But that wont stop libs from demagoging the issue so we do nothing.  

If they get less they will be forced to prioritize the money to get to the truly needed.

Our massive welfare state is going broke and tough decisions need to be made.  

Libs just aren't able to cut anything other than the military but like I said, no sacred cows there whether as I am sure military spending can be curtailed without putting the country in any peril.
