I am not agreeing with Europe as the gold standard.  I go there frequently but never hold it up as something to follow. And I am not saying they are right or wrong.  I am just reporting how they handle the issue

BUT THE RULES CHANGED ON THE LEFT. It is the left changed them. The left always says "Europe does.....Europe does...." Why cann't our health care...Why can't our penal system...

In fact, when Europe hated Bush the left said, "Look how we are viewed in other countries."

I would strongly advise against using anything Italian as a barometer for European sentiment.  

As I've mentioned before on this board, to generalise about Europe in general is folly due to the inherent nature of its constituent nations. The difference between Providence, RI and Petaluma, CA is not nearly as large as the difference between Paris and Ljubljana.

First, when ever a leftie posts an article here, do you automatically discret it because of the sourse, or is this a one sided thing?   When an article is posted from the NYT, Salon, HuffPo, do you say, "Well can't take that seriously."

In Europe papers are very clearly on one side, but that doesn't change the fact that previously none of the papers took this view.  They don't hide their view and people take the for what they are worth.  Because they are open, ironically they tend to be fairer, so as not to be dimissed out of hand.

Second, "conservatives" in Europe are far more liberal than conservatives here.  For example, no conservatives talk about undoing (or fixing) the medical system.  (There are problems, but that is a red herring and beyond the scope of this post, so let's avoid it. I am just saying that "conservative" there is liberal here.)

Likewise during the Sexual Assault rage recently ALL PAPERS withheld the news, liberal and conservative, for days, until social media broke the story.
'None were "anti-immigrant," even though many people in Europe feel they are being invaded.  THey did not take the "conservative" position that is comparable to here.

Finally, even the comments that are anti-Obama are from the left, calling his a war monger.
