an "assault" weapon, or "automatic" weapon is? I'd be interested in hearing your definitions.

Though, I don't see why it really matters much. Given a big crowd, with a reasonable amount of marksmanship skills and patience, one could kill closer to 33 people on semi-automatic than automatic. Would you agree?  Personally, can't think of any good reason to carry a gun into a public establishment. I can see them for sport, hunting and protecting ones home or business, but not in public unless one's job requires an extra amount of protection.

does anyone know the difference between an automatic, a semi-auto, a single action, a single/double action, a double action only, an assault weapon, or a tactical weapon is?

Yes, let's give the people who wouldn't know how to clear a gun without shooting their faces off a say in what responsible gun owners are allowed to own. This despite that 0.003% of the guns in this country are ever used in a homicide.

What about bolt action?

Not to be confused with bolt ons

what Wonk doesn't tell you is that the US is the #2 country in the world for homicides with 9500 gun homicides a year. Wonk's figure which he does not cite a source for--source wonk is irrelevant even if true because  the guns still murder around 9500 people. Unlike the wonkster and the nuguyster, I'll try to have a source cite for my stats.  Snowman, followme, nuguy, Cartman who only posts attacks on people with brain trauma that makes Cartman near the lobotomy spectrum, and the rest of the wingnuts here are adverse to citing any source for their wild and crazy whackjob claims other than there own delusional cesspools of id.

And speak of the jerseyflying flitter, here's a quote from New Jersey Senator Lautenbert that happens to be true.

Frank Lautenberg says U.S. has 9,500 gun murders a year, compared to 200 or less in other nations

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/jan/13/frank-lautenberg/frank-lautenberg-says-us-has-9500-gun-murders-year/

Then there are the kids who do shoot their faces off or make holes in their head with daddy's gun whoopsie. 9500--that's a lot of bodies and they would probably stink up Casa WillieWonka and if Wonk invites providers to Casa Wonk they would probably decline to fuck him there in  that case.  There is also a survey done by the American Journal of Thoracic Surgery every year that ole Wonk is oblivious to.

The percent of badasses who own guns and are shot with said guns during home invasions fatally in the chest is extrordinarily high every year because often said badass or badassa gets their lil gun taken away from them and immediately fired on them. Whoopsie fuckin' whoops.

divide the number of gun homicides with the number of guns in the country, which by best estimates is equal to the number of Americans we have.

Which gives you another happy statistic. 0.003% of Americans can expect to be killed by a firearm.

Compare that to the 40,000 who die in automobile accidents every year. A rate 4 times higher than from firearms. Anyone calling for "car-control"? Do we give people who can't drive and are opposed to driving, like say, the Amish, a say in what car you and I can drive?

The fact of the matter is that responsible gun owners are incredibly safe. And there's no coorelation between increasing safety by enacting tougher gun control laws.

Yes, Europe has few gun deaths. They also have lower income equality and lower rates of mental illness. Canadians have as many guns per household as Americans, Europeans have few, and neither have many homicides.

For comparison sake, while guns kill 9,000 a year in the US, alcohol use kills 150,000 a year. Should we bring back prohibition?

The fact of the matter is that guns save lives. They save lives every freaking day.

3 shotguns in my house, and none of them has ever killed a human. But they're available to do so if someone invades my home and attempts to harm my family. Only the rifles leave my home, and that's when I go to Range 14, the Rod and Gun Club shooting range, at Fort Dix. I usually shoot there with my friend, who was a USMC sniper in Viet Nam. I shoot at the 10 inch bullseye, and he shoots at the 4 thumbtacks holding the target on the silouette. I have to shoot quickly because four shots from John, and it's time for new thumbtacks, lol.

My father gave me my first rifle, a .22, when I was 9. Only shot rabbits and squirrels with it, which my mom cooked for us. Tasty too.

pretty sweet, jersy. I've probably asked before, but what do you have in your collection?

I used to eat rabbit at every Thanksgiving. Pretty good eatting. I don't think I could eat a squirrel though.

In New Jersey, BB guns are considered as an 'assault rifle' because of the number of BB's they hold. What a crock.

A moron, "Special Consideration Hire" ATF agent recently availed himself of the funds created by confiscating taxpayer wealth to raid a gunshop that exclusively sells "Airsoft" weapons (toy guns that shoot plastic BB's at low velocity, only).  He confiscated 30 of these toy guns based on the idea that they looked too much like real weapons and that they could be converted "with minimal work" by a gunsmith to a machine gun that would be capable of firing real bullets.

Our tax dollars put to good use, once again.

An assault rifle or assault weapon is a selective fire weapon, meaning it has a selector switch that allows it to be fired one shot at a time (semi-automatic), full automatic (weapon continues to fire as along as the trigger is held until magazine is empty), and some are capable of 3 shot burst.
Real assault rifles are classified as machine guns and require federal paperwork to own where legal and are very expensive, usually in the $10 - $20, 000 range or more. The semi-auto versions available to the public are look- alikes, while they may look like their battlefield counterparts they are not the same animal. They are no different in function than any other semi-auto hunting rifle or shotgun.
The semi-automatic assault weapon does not exist, it is label given to these guns by the liberal media to confuse those who don't know any better into thinking they are the same weapons used by the military.
