*increase life expectancy, among the rich and the poor
*increase math and literarcy scores among our children
*reduce the number of children who drop out of high school
*lower infant mortality and homicide rates
*reduce imprisonment and teenage birth rates
*increase trust among our fellow citizens
*lower Obesity and  mental illness rates
*reduce drug and alcohol addiction
*increase social mobility
*lower stress rates and health problems related to stress...

...it's simple. It's the inequality, stupid. Taxing the rich isn't just as popular as cheeseburgers, but it creates a better society, even for rich people.

Smoke this willy.
Have you considered Denmark citizens are ecstatic about life because of  their state sponsored church?
It's always greener on the other side of the hill when you don't know what you're looking at.

and by reducing spending on medicare, medicaid, and other programs for the poor. Over time they will die out and left with the 1% to have it all.

Never mind the fact eventually the 1% will shrink and vanish.

It's for the children....

Don't hide behind the military or first responders.

Either you did not get what I meant, which means you probably could not keep up with the intelligent debate I am seeking, or you are just being disingenuous and hiding behind the coattails of those who really do serve.

Either way, pretty sad...

We increase life expectancy by taking a serious look at the rates being charged by insurance companies and their business policies regarding coverage for those procedures that promote health and early detection.  We have more regulation covering a start up business than we do of insurance companies and what they are allowed to do unchecked.

We increase literacy by eliminating all those touchy feel good courses now required by the government and return to classes that teach skills.  Let mom and dad handle all the feel good crap and leave teachers to impart skills.  And while we are at it, require teachers to pass annual competency tests in their core subject.  Forget all this student testing junk.  It doesn't work and it only promotes cheating.  We also must accept the fact that depending on school location, some schools are going to do better than others because the parents manage their kids better depending on their demographic.  Oh, and we fire teachers who engage in political activism, who fail competency tests for themselves, who violate law, etc...  Take no prisoners.

We begin to remove government handouts as a substitute for gainful work.  No country can prosper when half it's population doesn't pay tax and who instead expects the government to pay them.  And don't forget, the government in this context is "we the peeps" who pay taxes.  How in the hell did we ever evolve to the point where 50 million people expect somebody else to support their ability to "live"?  If somebody is unwilling to contribute to society, then tough shit, let them wither away.  Yes, die of starvation, freeze from the cold, fry from the heat, die from disease.  I'm sorry for them, but it's their choice, not mine.  To facilitate enabling those who are willing to work, we establish a national clearing house of available work and connect people to those opportunities.  Only when someone is putting in their own effort, do we consider supplementing their effort to insure a basic level of living.
