At last, a champion for-civil forfeiture?

Civil forfeiture is the rare issue that unites both the Board lefties and righties. Influenced by the many articles that misdescribe how CF works (see todays WSJ) , they all think it is just terrible bc it allows the police to take your house, or other property, if you know drug dealing is going on there, even though you are never convicted of a  crime yourself.  In many cases, the proceeds are used to fund the police department which is why CF is sometimes called “policing for profit.”

Here is how it works. Remember that episode in Breaking Bad where the exterminator tells the homeowners to leave for fumigation but then Jesse and Walt set up their meth lab in the house? No CF there bc the homeowners have no idea their property is being used for drug purposes.

But when Jesse and Walt set up shop in Gus’s chicken farm at Gus’s request, the police can seize the chicken farm, even if they can’t convict Gus for some reason, so long as they present evidence to the court that Gus knew about this.  Of course Gus can still come to court and get his chicken farm back if he can prove that he in fact is innocent –i.e., he had no idea this was going on. That’s your Due Process.

When the police take your property without going through this process, as sometimes happens, that is not CF- that’s called “stealing.”

Our champion for this vital LE tool is none other than the soon to be attorney general Jeff Sessions who we learn today just loves civil forfeiture. In fact, he may end the limitations on fed/state CF imposed by the Obama Administration.

So maybe Trump isn’t all bad – just 99.9%. LOL

but I do have to agree with him for a change.

I find it rather ironic that Sessions is mainly criticized for being a racist, which by our standards of late should make him eminently qualified for the post considering just how racist our last two attorney's general have been.

That said, I do find it rather troubling that Sessions is not just in favor of CF, but such an ardent supporter. So maybe Trump isn't all good-just 99.9% LOL.

I still think Mari needs to show us his diploma from JDU if he is going to insist he is a lawyer. He is much more believable as an unemployed male porn star pretending to be a lawyer than he is a lawyer pretending to be an unemployed male porn star.

Lets all wait till 1/20/17 and beyond. Much to much is being read into every pick he makes. For example libs here leap into their faux outrage mode every time they deem an appointment as part of "the swamp."

I really dont care as much about the appointments as i do policy and legislation. I will club Sessions and Trump if they go down the CF road as it is a "prove your innocence" type deal all to often. But i can wait to club them. Lol

I mean look at just how bad Obama's picks were, for Attorney General I cant imagine anyone more racist that Holder, or more of a political animal than Lynch, and do we really need to discuss his two winners for SOS in Hillary and Kerry?

So yes, I supported and continue to support "most' of what Trump is doing, but that doesn't mean a rubber stamp for everyone he names. I am not particularly wild about Pruitt to head EPA or Rick Perry to do anything but take out the trash. Hopefully in Perry's case he is being appointed simply to dismantle the agency itself

...in the line of succession to the presidency are all white men.  If Trump picks a white man as Sec'y. of Agriculture, it would mean that the first TWELVE people in line to succeed Trump would be white men.  That's making America great again...getting as far as possible from having another black man or, God forbid, a woman as President.  Coincidence?

That would be our indicted but never convicted soon to be head of the Department of Energy who somehow got a “D” in “Meats” at Texas A & M. Topics included “pork evaluation” and “ham.”

White male succession is the least of our problems. Can you imagine Gov Perry and Trump negotiating a new Iran agreement- “You can’t have enriched uranium , nuclear reactors or …or what is the third one? Opps.”

I may have to apologize to Jack for mocking his Iranian naval blockade idea. Trump is the one guy who might do it.

Gov Perry is going down – and he’s taking all of us with him.

Wasn't my idea Mari. It was Dem Senator Carl Levin's. You know, the "dipshit" Dem who was only the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee. But what does he know?

Yes, I am sure caving to a terrorist state, giving them $150bn in the process while allowing Iran to self inspect was the better option. ;)

The clown car awaits. Hop in. FG is driving. You can ride shot gun. LO

I always liked Levin. Thought he was a man of civility and intelligence. Things not ordinarily found in D.C. I would have liked to hear his details of such a plan.

"Now line up our carriers and other large ships in the narrow Persian Gulf."

Yes, Mari actually said that here, as noted below. And he wonders why peeps dont take him seriously.

But Obama needed a major WK for his disastrous foreign policy blunders, with the Iranian deal at or near the top, but sadly he got Mari, the wizard of naval military maneuvers himself. LOL

And don't get him started about the magical "Sunburn." That missile can take out the entire U.S. navy all by itself.

Yes he is a tool bag but he is our tool bag. :)

And he's still the dumbest President we've ever had.
