a Republican controlled Congress that passed the last law, and a Republican President, George Bush, who signed it into law? I'll let you guess! I guess one could say that it was they who got "bitch slapped," eh?!?    ;)

The Supreme Court's ruling is regarding a provision of the voter rights act of 1965.

As a reminder , since you and your fellow lefties/libs. pinkos. like to distort and twist the facts, in 1965 Lyndon Johnson , a DEMOCRAT was President and at the time he had a DEMOCRAT Senate and House.

So, who signed that into law? Bush! Not Lyndon Johnson, nor President Obama.

To spin it and dishonestly distort the fact that it is a 1965 law  into something it is not....but that is nornal for the pinko lefties.

Anyway the fact that obama and his bunk mate holder do not like the decision mean it is a good thing for the country.

now go ahead and put your dishonest distorted spin on it and have the last word as I know you will.

You're Welcome
For God and Country

to the extent that you are trying to pin this one on Democrats or Republicans.

After passage of the Voting Rights Act in 1965 with its five year sunset date for the coverage  and preclearance provisions – which only applied to certain states - Congress reauthorized the Act in 1970,  1975, 1982 and most recently in 2006.

Thus these provisions were enacted by both Democratic and Republican controlled Congresses over the years and signed into law by both Republican and Democratic presidents.

The only reason Mr. Holder is the nominal Defendant here is bc procedural rules require the plaintiff to name the current AG when filing this kind of lawsuit. Silly and completely inaccurate to say that either party got “bitch-slapped” here. Both parties reauthorized the coverage formula and effectively the preclearance provisions over the years without a constitutional rationale.

You are right Mr. Obama did not sign this one into law. But I believe Mr. Obama as a senator did vote for the 2006 amendment and has said he is deeply disappointed at the ruling

I'm just contesting Followme's contention the Obama and Holder have been "bitch slapped." That implies that they, and they only have been targeted to be humiliated by the Supreme Court.
