to kiss the ass/ring of Donald Trump.  Honestly, I don't understand it.  Why does any self-respecting candidate feel the need to eat pizza with that bloviating blowhard douchebag?  What does he have that they need?  All they do is make themselves look foolish.  Really.  I don't get it.

Uuuuhhh, no.  Unless you consider publically ridiculing him during the White House Correspondents Dinner was tossing his salad.  Funny thing was, while Obama was roasting Trump, he was also calling the shots to kill Bin Laden.
BTW, I was really just asking a simple question.  Why are Cain and the others doing this.  I really don't understand what the upside is.  I don't see any.

not so shiny objects. In other words, there are plenty of others that are getting their asses kissed, though they are more under the radar of public awareness.

the need to establish some contact with the business world, Wall Street and banks you don't understand the political process.

I sure the discussion was about the best tire pressure for a Ford Fiesta.

No different than Obama, or any Democratic candidate making a pilgrimage to see Frank Trumka (AFL-CIO) or a Steven Spielberg (Hollywood). It's about money.

Money?  LMAO!  Trump controls very little of it.  He made an abortive run for the Rep.  nomination and was laughed off the national stage despite whatever money he has.  He controls no organization except a lame TV show.  They've taken his name off his former casinos.  The fact that he's a bloviating douchebag is one of the few things Reps. and Dems. can agree on.  It makes no sense at all to curry favor with him unless you seek public ridicule.

First, I agree with your description of Trump. Nevertheless, Trump still has some supporters, hence I assume Cain would like Trump's endorsement.

It's the same reason Obama has to go kiss the ass of the AFL-CIO, the Spielberg's and Streisand's of Hollywood, the Al Sharpton's. I can go on and on and on. It's about money. It's about consolidating your bass. Do I like it? No!

I don't believe Trump has enough supporters or controls enough dollars to be a king-maker of any kind.  Clearly, Cain, et. al., think otherwise.  I think they are fools, because the rest of America will look at them kissing The Donald's ring/ass while he smirks and think, "I'm not gonna support anyone who does this."

Of course he does.  And he's lost billions for many of them in his serial bankruptcies.  They just love him.

Actually Trump's corporations have filed for bankruptcy  but he personally has not.

Clearly (at least to me) I meant companies he has run have gone bankrupt.  Otherwise, how would "Wall Street contacts" have lost money?  The main point is valid: many on Wall Street who might be considered Trump's "contacts" have lost money via the bankruptcies he has orchestrated.  The only ones who have a reason to like him are network TV executives.

in the 2012 election.

Now we all know that he has zero chance of winning as an independent, but if he runs any votes he may get will likely come from people who would vote for the Republican candidate and not President Obama.

It is important that the front-running Republicans all work with Trump and keep him from pulling a Ross Perot and damaging their chances to defeat the Dems.

Interesting point, PW.  I hadn't considered that, or read anything about Trump going indy.  He'd be a fool to do it because he dropped out of the race when his poll #s went into the toilet.  But, hey, we already know he's a fool.
