I have had a few trips every winter have to get rescheduled due to snow. Like in Jan and Feb months. Best thing you can do is keep checking the weather and plan accordingly. There are guys that will still drive out in bad weather. But many will also not.
Last winter I lived in the snowiest city in the country and I do not want to live through that bs again. Philly is my second favorite city. But, I've never been in the winter. Just wondering in case I need to bail out. Thanks xo Erin
it can be highly variable. Better news is that we DO measure snowfall in inches and not feet like you do in New England, lol
I'll take inches over feet all day long! I'm going to look for short term rentals 😉

makes life really easy in the crappy weather
The trains do work well BUT when it's extremely hot , or extremely cold and icy the trains get significantly delayed. I have nene in philly at 30th street and the trains have been delayed 2 hours or 3! So when the weather is forecasted to be pretty bad, this girl stays home.
It's a real pain in the ass
We don't get the 24" Nor'easters nearly as regularly as Boston. We might have 1 or 2 12''+ storms a year, but some years we won't have any.
I'm based out of the W. coast and I'm so happy I saw this post. As a touring provider, in the winters, BOS is the worst place to be in if your trying to avoid getting snowed in. The snow scares me. Ha! Never have I been "snowed in" in PHL though.
