It looks like the new (beta) no longer has the Newbie Self-Help thread locked to the top of the forum. Until they fix that, you shouldn't reply to newbies to "read the self-help thread locked to the top of the forum."
Are you in flat mode? If so, the latest posts boost threads to the top, so the Instruction Manual won't be the top thread. In tree mode, threads stay in order. Unfortunately flat mode is default and many newbies won't know to change their default settings. I believe they went live with the new version too early. There's a lot of things that still should get fixed.
PS: In classic former forums, you used to be bright red.
In new/Beta, you are a washed out barely visible light orange.
I think you need to get more sun OR TER SHOULD FIX SOME OF THEIR FIXES AND MAKE THESE FORUMS READABLE AGAIN.
