I've never been to a spa to get a massage. What actually goes on in there? I've seen some for $40-80 to get in the door...once inside, do you pay more for a massage (then what is the going rate?). Now, the big question, is it just a massage or do you get any release? If so, is there more of an upsell? I don't want to get a massage and while i'm getting in the mood, have the provider ask if I want more and of course I will, and THEN start asking for how much.
I'm also thinking of having a girl come over for a massage and naturally over the phone she isn't answering any sexual questions, so how do I know in advance if I call her up for a massage that she I will get some release?

The whole MP (often AMP for Asian massage parlors) business model is based on upsale. Some might give a happy ending (hand job) at the end of the massage, but certainly not for $40. The HJ places would charge at least $75 or more.
Anyway, the custom is that after you get (hopefully) a pretty good massage, the masseuse will say something along the lines of: "Is there anything else I can do for you?" Assuming that you are interested (and that you have a few Franklins in your pants pockets which should be nearby, you will want to say something like: "I was wondering if you offer more services for a nice tip."
From there you just feel your way. It takes a bit of back and forth but as I recall, the last time I did this about five years ago, French goes for about $100-150 and full service anywhere from $200-300. Extra pops are extra.
It can be just the thing for a spur of the moment case of the hornies as there is no appointment to make, and no screening, etc.
The downside is that MP's (and especially AMP's) have been attracting a lot of LE attention of late. I would not go to one now.
AMP's in and around a large city near my hometown. The sheriff had a massive bust and shut them all down in one fell swoop. The girls were given 10 days to leave the state. Since then, a few have opened up again. I used to frequent them, but, like Mr. Fisher, I won't go near them now.
Massage Parlors (MPs) are often the "Gateway Drug" into this hobby. They are cheaper, and cater to a more spur-of-the-moment crowd, as opposed to having to call 24-hours in advance like some escorts prefer.
Depending on where you live, the services available in a MP can be very different. Around Chicago for example, only HJ is usually available - FS being offered is rare. Other areas have different rules.
Paying $75 tip for a HJ at an Asian MP (AMP) would be too high in my opinion. $40-$60 should be the range. An American spa will be more expensive because they are more rare.
If you find a spa that offers FS, you shouldn't be paying $300. You could get a regular escort for that price - remember, the whole business proposition for the spas is to be cheaper than an escort.
Please ignore posts telling you about busts. The guys are almost NEVER the target of a bust - it's either about immigration issues, or for American places it's about someone making anonymous complaints. A customer's wife found out, and has called the police and newspapers demanding action. The cops are interested in shutting the place down, not arresting guys. More than likely byt he time of the bust, the cops already have video of the girls offering sex for money - the bust is a formality, bread and circuses for the newspapers.

$100-$120 Full Service

Thank you for the info. I am new to the hobby and have gone with a few hit and runs with local escorts. However, on CL I have seen ads for massages and some of the girls are hot, and instead of going to a strip club for fun, I think it would be a fun time to go to one of MPs for a private show and then see what happens. unless you find reviews of the CL girls here on TER verifying the accuracy of the pics, consider them a total crapshoot. Often the pics will be used to entice you even if they are not really of the girls themselves, or are old and outdated, banking on the idea that once you are there, you will follow through regardless.
Maybe it depends on what area you are from. Around my area raids have been taking place on a regular basis for the past several months, with customers arrested as well as the ladies. I would highly suggest inquiring on your local regional board to see what the local atmosphere is like.
Do not underestimate the risks of the hobby. LE is out there and contrary to PittPanther"s rather cavalier post the risks of the hobby, while occassionally overstated are definitely real.
Don't be petrified by fear, but definitely be careful out there.

I don't want to get in a pissing match with you or anyone else, but how does your link about an Outcall sting operation (from 2004!) have any bearing on MPs?
They are unrelated events. Because guys get arrested trying to pick up streetwalkers, that has no relationship to MPs or TER girls.
My posting was only "cavalier" about risks at MPs, not general hobby risks of arrest. I still stand behind what I said - the overwhelming majority of busts at MPs are either about immigration or trying to shut the place down.
Think about it - imagine you're at an MP getting your dick jerked by the masseuse. You hear a commotion at the front door. All you need to do is turn over onto your stomach. The cops didn't see you. You're just a customer at a licensed massage spa. No arrest.
Sure there is the "possibility" that the police have taken over the spa, installed hidden camera and microphones, and are just out of sight, waiting for you to proposition the masseuse. But in real life this almost never happens - probably about as often as someone gets busted by visiting a "well-reviewed" TER girl.
I must agree with gagambler on this one. For the very reason you stated I stay away from AMP's and asian agencies, immigration. With Lou Dobbs daily rants on CNN and local authorities enforcing immigration policies, AMP's are being targeted. But if a bust is made on the establishment, everybody is being booked as a material witness if not charged. Its not turn around and the "other" girl finish the massage. Now if you single like me, no problem but if you married...
That was my point exactly. I have more experience with AMPs than anyone I know that hasn't actually worked in or owned one. When an AMP is busted which happens more frequently than you would think, everyone goes to jail or is at least cited as a witness.
I am happily divorced and self employed and to me the risk is not a problem, but to tell others the risk is virtually nonexistant is very irresponsible. The risks are real, acceptable to me, but very real.
Which is why I made my original post. LE certainly does not need a hidden camera to arrest everyone when an AMP is busted, whether the charges stick or not does not really matter to married hobbyists after their name is printed in the local paper.
My point was that Newbies should be aware of this and decide for themselves if the risk is acceptable to them, check your local area and see how active LE is in order to weigh the risks. To just ignore any warnings and think there is no risk at all is very foolish indeed.
