I've been mostly inactive the hobby for the last several years (since right around the start of fosta/sesta). Now I'm thinking about getting back into the hobby and wanted to know what people's opinions are on the best way to purchase VIP. I used to just pay with a credit card, but I don't know how much banks/CC companies are policing these transactions nowadays. Can you still use credit cards without getting your account shut down? Or is it better to use gift cards to buy VIP? Sorry if this post is in the wrong place... I was debating between posting in the general discussion board and the newbie board.

I don't think you need to worry about your account being closed if you use a CC. I don't think the payment processor is located in the USA and likely just shows as some online transaction. Even if it shows up for adult entertainment that would not itself be a problem. So would X rated video. The big card brands did cut-off pornhub but that was due to more than merely being a porn site. I doubt the issuing bank would terminate its relationship with a cardholder who had a transaction declined by the payment processor for attempting to pay.
So I think the worst that would happen if you choose to pay by CC would be the transaction being declined rather than having you card account closed. Probably been 2 years since I've paid for VIP and that was with a CC without problem.
I think the issue is that CCs issued (managed) by US banks may temporarily (or permanently) block payments to non-US = foreign entities. There are US banking regs about such payments to prevent money laundering, transferring money to terrorists, hacking - theft, etc.. I don't know if this method still works, but some have previously reported that they call their bank / CC customer service line and tell them that they are about to put through a payment to a foreign vendor and would they please authorize the payment to go through. Sometimes, they stay on the line while completing the transaction.

Here's something new: I thought TER was "Treehouse Something-or-Other" in The Netherlands or Germany. Checking the About Us (bottom of most pages), http://www.theeroticreview.com/info_policies/aboutUs.asp says, "TER is owned by and operated by No Excuses Agents LTD" and the location is "Paphos, Cyprus." Who knew? Oh ... that info is in case you have to tell your CC Customer Service Rep about your payment and to please approve the payment.

I suggest you confirm that with TER Admin (use Contact Us) so you know what payee name or info to tell your CC Rep to approve. That is, TER might call themselves "Bob's Donuts" for CC payments for all I know so it's best to make sure.

two days of free VIP. Doesn't sound like much? Well, if you only find one Problem Report a day, at the end of one year you'll have a year of free VIP in your account (one day goes to pay for your VIP and one day goes into your account).
It's easy to find Problem Reports. If you're getting back in the hobby you'll be perusing the profiles. You may click on an ad in the profile that's no longer there. Most guys would simply go to the next ad in the profile. But if you take a minute to click 'Report A Problem' and write: "Her _______ad has expired," you'll get two free VIP days. It's easy to find five Problem Reports a day while looking though the profiles for a provider to see. Not only will you get free VIP, you'll also be helping to keep TER profiles accurate.
There are many other discrepancies to be found in profiles but I won't reveal my trade secrets. However, I can tell you that I have 23+ YEARS of VIP in my account.
You also get 15 days of free VIP for writing a review but that takes much longer than doing Problem Reports.
I think if you want to access all the reviews here and are booking on a regular basis then it would be worth it for you. If you are just looking for general advice then you will always find someone to help you on the forums.
I love VIP on TER! I did have to attempt more, than once, but it finally went through. Maybe because I was a victim of fraud previously. IDK I’m here now. I didn’t want to go buy a giftcard, or try bitcoin. Welcome back. Smile for me! Xoxo
