Question About STD's

I was hoping some veterans of the hobby out there can help clear something up for a newbie...

As I read through these reviews on TER, it seems like the vast majority of providers offer BBBJ and BBBJTC, much to the delight of hobbyists.  But correct me if I'm wrong...isn't this a sure-fire way to pass along germs/virus/disease? I was reading an article about a certain NFL star (who shall remain nameless ;-) who recently got sued by a woman who he gave herpes to. The lawsuit stated that the sexual contact, mostly oral, was brief but unprotected. Yet he managed to pass (no pun intended) the virus onto her.

I guess my question is this...no one should be stupid enough to engage in intercourse without protection but doesn’t  BBBJ and DATY leave you just as vulnerable?

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance...

There have been a few threads that refer people
to very good articles on medical sites.  That's
about it.

Bottom line, you can pass an STD on via BBBJ and
DATY.  As to what, and what are the relative
risks, you won't find that here.

I know Craig's List San Francisco has an STD
forum that is moderated by professionals at a
clinic.  It looks promising after giving it a
quick glance.

danno, i have been sick since receiving a bbbj from my first provider experience. and my blood work shows i did get an infection of some kind.
i am hoping it was not hiv.

Below you say that you have been tested and are completely clean.  Now you say you "did get an infection of some kind"..  What tests did they run?  Every single test is a test for something, not a test to see if there is an infection..  The specific test would show what "infection" you were afflicted with.

The only other thing I can think is that you picked up some sort of cold or flu or the like, which could have come from anywhere....

Please elaborate...

He's been sniveling for weeks now. We're probably the only people who would talk to him, now we're sick of him too.

"Doesn't that leave you just as vulnerable?"
And the answer to that one is "no".
Unprotected FS and unprotected oral are not in the same risk catagory at all.

here is the explaination, all the std's they could test me for, they have. but they did test my crp which shows if the body has a infection or inflamation. mine tripled from 3 to 9. so i picked up an infection of some kind. my first hiv test was neg. at 1 month but have to take another at 3 months.

Please tell me that means that you will shut up, and quit whining until then. I know, wishful thinking on my part.

You have to decide for yourself, bur link below was

In answer to your question:

1. BBBJ and DATY DOES leave you vulnerable to acquiring STD's including (and not limited to) HIV, Hepatitis B, Herpes, Gonorrhea, and to a lesser extent Hepatitis C.

2. The chances of HIV and Hepatitis B transmission are increased in particular  if there is any break in the skin (e.g. ulcers, abrasions) rendering it more likely that you are exposed to blood, which is the body fluid that you should avoid especially when it comes to Hepatitis B or HIV.

The lesson is - always wear a condom.

The second lession is - if you have been in the above high risk situation - I recommend seeing your doctor and getting tested for HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, syphilis, and if you have any symptoms (e.g. penile discharge, pain on peeing) - a urine test for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Herpes Simplex Virus.
