When and how is the best time and way to tell a provider whom I have an appointment with that I can't tolerate strong perfumes? It's a big deal for me because some perfumes just drive me out of the room. However,I don't want to screw this appointment up. It's my first.

Tell her you don't want any perfume worn due to fear your S.O./wife might pick up the smell when you get home.
Most ladies will respect that and have actually asked me if they shouldn't wear anything or if I would like a shower after the session.

Many of us wear scents or scented lotions and it's appreciated by most but this isn't a weird request. I get that about once or twice a month. Just let her know when you book the appointment and when you call to confirm and get her location gently remind her, "Please remember no scents or perfumes" You don't need an excuse. SO's, allergies, whatever....

The last 2 providers I have seen smoke but not during session. I could still sense it. I think this kept me from reallly getting into the moment. What do you smoking providers do for us guys who don't smoke? Plus a little scent goes along way for me.....
The provider's profile lists whether she smokes or not. You may want to consider eliminating smokers from your search. Another thought is to carefully read the reviews of ladies that smoke, but not around customers to see if anyone mentions noticing it. If you're still unsure, PM other reviewers and specifically ask.
Perfumes are different because it's not a profile item. I've specifically asked a lady to refrain, and at other times when it wouldn't be an issue, I've mentioned that it wouldn't be a problem this time.
Most ladies refrain from wearing perfume. We don't want you walking out the door with a neon sign announcing what you have just been up to. I use a light body spray that gives my skin a very pleasing fragrance, but is light enough so that it doesn't rub off on my guests.
To be on the safe side though, there is nothing at all wrong with letting a lady know in your initial contact that you are allergic to most perfumes, and ask that she not use any when she sees you.
