Greetings,  Catherine Black here , relative newbie provider.  I would like to white list a very special client.  How do I go about doing that? Thanks in advance for your patience and wisdom.

You've already performed the first necessary steps - being reviewed, registering with TER, getting you TER profile associated with you username, etc.

Here is is some oft repeated advice that has been posted on several boards, and can be found in TER's Instruction Manual:

To White List, click on the "reviews" button near the top of the screen, and then select "Search White List" on the left side of the screen. Type in the hobbyists TER username (or his email address if you don't know his username, which may or may not match up depending on what email he uses on his profile). Once you find the hobbyist you are looking for, you click on the "Submit Referral Button", which only providers can see.

Can someone describe the purpose of white listing? I looked at the brief description at the intro, but didn't really understand it.

So that a hobbyist can tell a provider that they can go look him up in TER and know he is OK.

There is a problem with that, namely, an unscrupulous client could claim to be that hobbyist when he is not; and unless the provider is able to get mail on TER to prove that he is who he says he is, the system is not really safe.

Another problem with it is that the hobbyist has to obviously give the provider his TER handle to prove his white list status.  That removes some of the sanctity of any review process because ideally a hobbyist wants to be able to post a review annoyminously (with regard to his real life name) in order to avoid any repercussions from a negative reviw.

Still, I think that there is a place for the white list.

I have a big red flag that is raised with the white listing of any client.  If you want the 411, please email me [email protected]

Stay safe & take care,
