cliche, but first time poster, long time reader

i'm completely embarrassed to admit that i'm new to the hobby and already i've been duped. it was a pretty obvious one too. bait and switch, then she says she has none of her equipment and asks if i have any. after i reply no, can't she go buy some she calls her agency, agency woman yells at me that i'm trying to solicit her girl for sex, girl makes off with cash.

i'm not looking for any sympathy, but i was unable to solicit any other provider at the time because i have no references and am new to the boards. can any of you tell me how you got started in the hobby and began getting references?

i did read one of the forum posts regarding telling the truth and giving job information, etc. however, right now i am a student and while i did work a consulting job, one provider said she was unable to verify. am i sol? thanks in advance guys!

is to join one of the verification sites. Even though they typically ask for the same information that the ladies will ask for, they do have alternative ways of verifying you. They will work with you to get you verified. You might try Date-Check or Preferred411. If you are in the midwest, RS2K is a good one. After you are a member, you can choose your location, and see some of the ladies from the site. Their reviews are also linked directly to TER, if they have any, so that makes it even a bigger plus.

Welcome & Good Luck

Another way is to join in the chat room and get to meet some of the people here. I am also a "Probie" (still on probation due to lack of #'s of reviews). My first I read the providers requirements and ideas on their web sites. Followed their rules and emailed a couple to ask what I would need to do to be able to meet them. Always send all your info (name, age, work #, etc) on the initial contact. The ones I contacted were gracious enough to respond and let me know what I needed to do to be able to meet them. Hope this helps. I can't stress enough to read their sites first.

With all due respect, I will differ with a piece of the advice the previous poster gave.

I would never email all of that information on the initial email, unless, perhaps the provider in question was well reviewed.  Yes, you will probably get better return rates with more information, but you are running a large risk by sending out such exacting information before you even know if the person will meet with you (Heck, even if she will email you back - probably 35-50% of your emails will go unreturned to independents, regarless of how much info you give out.  The profile you are seeing could be a sting or a rip off attempt.  Why give any private info until you know there is something there?

Try emailing something like:  "Hi, I'd like to see you on Friday, 5 March in the afternoon or the early evening as an outcall.  What would I need to do to set up an appointment?  I am new at this and don't have any references, but am willing to show you any verification info you request (Student ID, W-2).  Thanks, and please let me know."  You won't get 100% responses, but I bet you will get enought to get started with.

Conversely, you can try to do an appointment with an agency or two and then you can have a body of work for future references.

Good Luck.

If you are a student, email from your .edu address.

Keep in mind that many institutions let you keep your .edu address as an alum, even after you've graduated.  It does verify that you are connected to the institution, but depending on the institution, may be something you can get just by taking a single adult education class.

I have three of them myself...
