It puzzles me that

You read the reviews... all of them. if you are lucky, she might be one of those providers that would actually email you a bit before the session if it is a few days away. But personality really...I hope you are not looking for a GF here. It is GFE the main word is experience...just my 2 cents...

some do not speak on the phone prior to meeting. You can learn a lot based on that call. It is a must for me.

If you see girls who post, you can see how their personality is "if" they are joining in on a discussion (vs trying to drum up business).

Some reviews can tell you how she is. Some reviews don't mention it much. Kind of a toss up if you can learn more about her personality vs the actual acts.

..of sorts, does not mean that he is looking for a girlfriend.

I speak with all my new gentlemen callers before meeting, so I can learn if there is a rapport of sorts.  I do not want to share an extended date, with a gentleman I have nothing in common with.

Now, if one is just looking to book an hour, than personality might not be a factor.

Hugs and Kisses,
Kelly

One of the key factors I'm looking for is that connection. It makes the time spent so much more enjoyable for both parties.

So whenever I'm meeting someone for the first time, it's for an hour. I have found, for me, it's sufficient time to discover whether we click or not. So it does matter.

Personality is certainly important.  I love it when I feel a sincere rapport with a provider.  Exchanging emails prior to meeting has always worked very well for me if the lady is into that.  But oddly, in all the many years and many dates I've had, I don't recall speaking on the phone before meeting in more than a very few cases. I get tongue tied on the phone sometimes, but feel I can express myself via the written word much better.

...Read her web site. Read her ads. Read her board posts. (If she participates on the boards.) PM her recent reviewers and ask.

I have had one provider want a phone conversation before meeting.

Since I now attend Meet & Greets I get to speak with them before I decide to see them. Occasionally though I just decide to take a chance and set the appointment up. One of my last 4 reviews was a provider I knew nothing about except I trusted her agency and I liked her photos. It turned out very well.

many providers want a phone call first, OK.  I will do that, if she is someone I really want to see.  There are so many out there, if I don't really want to call her, I will pass.  If she is a poster here, or has lots of reviews, I don't necessarily have to talk to her in order to see her, unless she demands it. I can get a good feel for her personality from her posts and her reviews.  Basically, it's just pretty much a gut feeling, and how badly I want to see her.

Some women seem so serious in ADs, so if I can meet a woman that likes being around goofballs/silly dudes or even enjoys that personality it's a win for both of us if she's silly or into silly.

I can find out a woman's thoughts on hygiene on 98% of ADs I've read. So thoughts on her personality is important to me.

Almost all my dates are set up through email, PM, or text. Never had a lady request or require a phone conversation.

Am just curious, but why would you initially want to meet a gal but not want to call her? (just asking)

I find email communication to be impersonal and have had experiences where guys passed screening with flying colors to only pop up red flags in an actual conversation. I certainly don't mind if we speak via email or pms to set it up and chat prior but at some point I would love to hear that voice and know there is no demanding tone or flakiness going on etc. You can't always get a feel of that on an email. I love to hear the emotion in our conversation.

TER isn't overly popular where I am at and my local board is dead as a doorknob lol. I rarely have anything to go by as far as them being a poster on the boards. Would I insist on talking on the phone with someone (such as swimtrekr) who has quite a bit of board presence? No. I have a very good feel for you and it wouldn't bother me in the least if you were not able to talk on the phone prior. It is different in such situations. I have done that before for some. Still be great to at least be a little personal.

Me neither.
You'd think that a provider would go out of her way to request a phone call from me, at least to help prove that I am actually a female. But so far none has asked.

I would rather talk with the provider ahead of time but I really don't like to hear my own voice over any type of speaker.  That's just me lol.  I don't mind texting a few times before meeting but I do understand how hearing someone's voice can say a lot about a person.

I am finding that you can glean almost as much about a person through an email chat as you can by a phone chat once you learn what to look for.

This is not 100% true of course, there are some people who suck at talking on the phone and others who suck at communicating via the written word.

I know you might find this hard to believe but at one point in my life I absolutely hated to communicate via the written word and would do anything to avoid it, now look at me. I am an even bigger blabbermouth than you, although neither of us can compete with LR. lol

By the way, we get nervous too! I even get nervous when meeting but I don't show it and am able to rise above it to make him comfortable.
