Was just wondering if the providers care about which one we use... Burner phone or texting/call app.  I want to change but a second phone brings about too many questions and is more obvious than an app.  I'm more concerned about what's showing one Bill and when texting I want something more discreet than my current everyday mobile phone

I went hobby phone.  Shut off & put away when not in use.  It's small enough to hide easily (another topic which has been discussed here).  Apps can work too but guys who are into it will give you the options.

I'm pretty new at this but I use an app on my phone (I use Hushed) I went that direction because its easier for me to use one phone and it would be almost impossible for me to explain away a second phone if it were discovered/seen. Practically, almost all of my date -arranging has been by email anyway.

There's an iphone app called burner that will allow both calls and texts.  You can generate new phone numbers in seconds, use them as long as you like, then ditch them.

I'd say, get an APP.   Use one of the ones mentioned above, or even google voice works too, you set it up through a separate email account and there's a phone app for it.  and it's free.   Just be sure to delete all call history and text history when your'e done using the app.   You can even delete the app when you don't want it showing on your home screen.   That's what I would do if I were a client

Since I don't use a smart phone normally, I just substitute my hobby phone for my civie phone in my belt carrier when on a date.  Who would know?
Keeping it hidden IS pretty easy for me but you have to be able to get at it too, when you need to

... but I kept on forgetting to grab it before I went on a date.

now, I use my smartphone and I installed a 6 digit PIN app on my phone. no way anyone can open it up without knowing my PIN to that phone. even if my SO finds it... it's locked and she can't open it. she always asking me what those beeps are coming from my smartphone. I tell her the same thing, "If I have to tell you, that means I have to kill you." I am a former employee of the DoD (Department of Defense). That usually ends the conversation.

I bought Hushed and it is a marvelous app. Got new phone number with texting capability for a year for $29. Incoming calls and texts go directly to the app. Thanks for the heads up.

I also tried Hushed but found Burner to be much easier to install and use.  Both apps are free.
