What are your views on a guy wearing plain old Levis to a meeting at an upscale hotel on a Sunday morning?  (Til now I've worn business casual among other reasons to show respect to the person I was meeting.)

There's no formal dress code for upscale hotels. Dressing casually won't draw attention to you, but weird/nervous/confused behavior will. It helps to ask her for the elevator location before you enter the building so you can act confident in where you're heading.

I guess we're operating with different clientele, lol.   I recently took my college SB to the mall & dropped $150 for her favorite jeans.  It's ridiculous, but that's the world I'm living in now.  But let me ask you: if your client wore jeans with a Perry Ellis v-neck & a Claiborne blazer, how would that be?  That's pretty much my standard look now.  I guess it all depends on what game you're playing & who you're playing with.  --z

Upscale for incalls are normally jeans, nice shirt and dress shoes.  Sometimes tennis shoes, but rare.

Sunday mornings you'll see everything from a 3-piece suit down to track suits even at upscale locations in the US south.  Perhaps in larger northern cities the dress code is stronger.
In Western Europe it's typical to wear slacks and a nice shirt even on weekends; nice jeans are acceptable but typically scream American.  Over the past 15 years I've seen that erode a bit, and even locals have started to wear jeans, but they are upscale jeans and typically not the $20 USD pairs from Wal-Mart.

Blazers or sport coats can really dress up a look, even with a t-shirt and jeans.  Quality and style tend to travel together:  reduce one and the other is harder to achieve.

1. Wear what makes you look and feel good.  
2. If there's a dress code, ie; formal event, restaurant requiring jacket, certain attire, blah, blah, blah... If it's too much to adhere to the requested attire, stay home, put your tootsies up, recline on your Barc-a-lounger(sp?)  and open a frosty, cold, bottle of white-label Chimay or two or twenty. Damn.....Don't forget to invite me!  

P.S. There's nothing "plain" or "old" about a guy who can rock a pair of Levis.  Just yummy!

But I've seen Levis on Easter Sunday brunch guests at the Four Seasons in LA/Beverly Hills. As long as they're clean no one raises an eyebrow.

Unless your overall appearance leaves something to be desired. For instance you look like you just got off work as a sanitation worker. Or you've been landscaping all day long.

Are you pleasant and respectful? Are you clean and well groomed? If you are simply meeting a lady for a standard rendezvous at her hotel room, then just look presentable. You planning a longer date that might include a nice meal at a high end restaurant? Well then you dress the part.

It's really all common sense. Don't over think this stuff. Clean yourself up nicely, make sure your fingernails are clipped, if you have a beard make sure it's trimmed neatly so you don't look like a neanderthal, and be pleasant and also confident. Nervous, shy guy might make her a bit apprehensive.
