When I first started. I just contacted them and set up an appointment and that was it. If they needed screening I just skipped it. The only real ID that most providers want to see is the piece of paper with ol' Ben Franklin's face on it. A few of the one's with Ulysses' pic on it should good too.  

If a provider is doing outcall and she wants to make sure its not an LE sting, then that the only real reason to do it. Otherwise if its incall I dont see the reason. If you talk to them on the phone they can guesstimate how how old you are for the most part, or they can just ask you.

First of all, read the self help center.  Since you are young (you don't say how young), that may work against you.  I'd suggest joining Preferred411, they will work with you for verification.  Plus, their providers can indicate if they are newbie friendly, which are the ones you should look for.

Laugh all you want I had a great time with most of the ones I saw.

If you're going to this long term as a hobby it would be good to have screening creds. But for a new guy you don't need to go through all that. Same with the guys who just do this on occasion to get them through dry spells or whatever, don't need all that.

I was simply making reference to the OP. When I was new I didn't have any reference creds. I pretty much looked in Backpage and did search for the phone# to see if it was legit. If so, I just called and set up the appointment. Very simple. (I was lucky I had a  string of some very good providers starting out). I didn't worry about trying to set up some kind of screening credibility, since I really had none. Nor was I willing to give out any personal info and what not. Sometimes I took my chances without searching references. And yeah you are right again I'm beginning to see how much of a minefield Backpage really is.

It's the other way around. The customer needs to always screen by searching for the number at least. I didn't said for the customers never to screen. You are twisting what I'm saying.

When the lady screens it helps the lady (for her security). Nothing to do with the clients end. If the guy does a check to make sure she's had some legit reviews at least, that's pretty much all he needs to see her. Period. If he is comfortable going through a screen by giving personal info then that's fine, if he wants to do that. I wasn't when I first started. It's not all exactly legal giving out personal info is iffy at best.

You propagating that guys must only see lady's who screen is just marketing on your part. Because it helps you.

You didnt even read what I said. First thing I did was search phone #'s. That took me to this sites like this one and I read the reviews. That's how I knew which girls to call. Did I need THEM to screen me? No. I called and made the appointment.

First of all read what I said. Never said to NOT screen the girls. You screen. They don't need to screen you for you to see them.  

Dangerous advice is giving out your personal info in a market where its not all exactly legal. Some sites in India or Nigeria could use that info and put you on a website for soliciting prostitutes and you have to pay them a lot of money to take your name off.

personal info to gals, going with those P411 ladies who don't ask for more info (i.e., they rely on P411's verification of my identity, and the "okays" that I've received on that site).
But that said, the risks involved with giving your name to well-reviewed established providers (like Julia or Tobi) is infitessmally smaller than the risks involved of going with backpage girls who don't screen.

The point of this Newbie board is to help steer new guys and gals in the right direction as they learn the ropes - telling guys that they should go see ladies who don't screen at all is just flat-out bad advice to be giving Newbies, even though this may have worked for you so far.  Look at it this way, even if 95% of the time it works out okay (by this I mean you get the basic service you wanted, didn't get outright cheated, robbed, or caught in a LE sting), those odds are terrible compared to the odds of having a good, safe experience when you go with a well-reviewed lady who screens (using P411 or similar service and/or doing her own screening).
