If you've found a provider and they're reviewed well by people who've reviewed a substantial number of others (and whom I seem to have read a huge number of helpful postings from on this here newbie board), but they don't ask for references or any kind of verification, is that a bad sign? Should one always insist on a provider that wants references?

Quality providers care about their safely and verification is the key to that safety.

If she has a ton of good reviews, then maybe it's not a big deal, but her reviews are skimpy or non-existent, then beware.

You might want to PM some of the reviewers who have seen her and ask them about thier experiences.

In my personal experience and not purporting to speak for anyone else, but I've had very few providers ask for references. With one exception, I only see those who are well-reviewed. I've been extremely lucky so far, and am probably in a very small minority. But that's just me.

I know enough ladies that screen without references that it doesn't bother me anymore.  That OF COURSE assumes that the depth of solid reviews is in place.

The biggest thing is, you don't want to get caught in a sting. If someone is making it painless for a newbie, what a blessing. Just ask the many gentlemen here who have had a very hard time getting to first base.

If you have your eye on a lady with many reviews, she knows exactly whats going on. I see newbies in one location and very close friends in another.Newbie to me is any new person I see... That very well could be your lady friends situation as well.

You can check with the gentlemen that she has seen. If it were me, I wouldn't want any information given to someone without a track record.

Not necessarilly.  Many ladies have subtile ways to screen.  In any case, you have to go with your gut feeling.  If you don't feel right, ask to chat on the phone with the lady a few days before you are to see her.  If you still don't feel right, cancel the date.

If it is up your sleeve, I must be doing something wrong.

I am rarely asked for provider references during screening. Not that it doesn't happen, but most of the ladies I see are satisfied with the other screening methods that don't include provider references.

If a provider does NO screening whatsoever it would raise a red flag, but for me it would not be a deal killer if she had solid reviews. I do have to admit that I am more risk tolerant than others here. I am divorced and self employed, being outed means nothing to me. I do realize that most others are not in this positions.
