This can be quite a pricey hobby. Once a month could add up to near five grand a year. What's the most you've spent in a year? Do you have a maximum or minimum budget?
There are well off hobbyists that participate and from my reading here and on the general discussion board, some that barely make ends meet and have to save what little disposable income they have before they can see a provider. The range of gentlemen's wealth here is very large.
The key is that you should not to spend more than one can afford. This is especially the case if one has a family or is supporting someone. Budgeting is a good idea if the funds are not unlimited.
My main constraint is time, not money, but I'm highly disciplined about the $$$ I spend with the ladies. My method is to withdraw $2,500 in cash and start setting up dates. My place; theirs'; concerts; dinner; theatre, etc. When the $2,500 is gone, I stop because I've reached my limit.
When I feel the urge, I reflect on whom my money was well spent with; any one new I'd like to give a try and, now wiser, whom to avoid. Then I withdraw another $2,500 and begin again. I've never spent more than $10,000 on the hobby in any one year and usually date in the $$$ to $$$$$$ range, plus or minus.
