"Double-call system"?

Sorry if this is a perennially-pesky newbie question. I tried to perform "due diligence"; I checked out MichaelCA's very helpful links and lexicons, especially "Inside a provider's mind", did some searches, but couldn't find out what the "double-call system" is. I saw it referred to in context in a review, as if "everyone" knew what it was; but _I_ don't!!

I would appreciate any explanation(s) anyone could give regarding what procedures providers use to check someone out, so that I can appear not to be TOTALLY dense!! It would be nice to know what to expect. Mods, you might want to add such info to your list of Newbie links.

Thanks,
Jeebs

It is something along the lines of:

You get to the designated hotel for the date.
You call the service/lady to let them/her know that you are at the hotel.
Either: 1) they tell you right away the room #; or
2) The call you back to let you know the room #.

#2 is for: a) She may not be ready, and she calls back when she is ready; or b) The call back is added assurance that you are not LE (???).

The two call system is for confirming an incall appointment, not for screening.  There are many variations.  My experience has been a little different from Tokai's.

I usually make appointments several days in advance.  The lady asks me to confirm on the day of the appointment (1st call).  If I don't have them already, she gives general directions to her location and asks me to call when I'm close (2nd call).  Then she gives her unit number or street address or whatever else may be necessary, and as Tokai said, she might ask you to wait if she's not ready.

As far as what kind of screening procedures are used, it varies greatly.  Some ask for very little info; some ask for a lot.  One I saw must have access to a Private Investigator site or something.  While we were on the phone, she was pulling up addresses from some database, trying to confirm who I was.  That was a little scary, but she's very professional and well known.  I trusted her to be discrete.

Thanks, Tokai! I figured it was something like that, but in this milieu, I didn't want to take anything for granted!
