Something to consider: the guys who pay $1k+ per hour aren't the same guys you find posting on TER. My clients are very happy, and I doubt any of them would post a review. Instead, they just become regulars.
You see here that the guys go apeshit when someone mentions a rate about $300. But I can promise you that many of us charge ten times that, and still get a substantial tip. It's a different ballpark, and probably a different kind of experience.

Fair enough. I didn't assume this would go over well, but that wasn't what I meant to suggest - I have complete respect for other providers. But you can understand why I'm not thrilled with the typical "for $1k, she oughta clean my f*cking house" complaint - it's pretty clear that this isn't a popular rate on this site.
I don't read the reviews, just the boards. I'm interested in what other providers think and how they experience things, and I'm also interested in what hobbyists think.
And when someone asks whether $1k is worth it, I'm here to say that it is, while everyone else says otherwise.

is not worth it. While many, I'm sure, do, those that are willing to pay it will likely not post anything on the subject. Actually, I'm pretty sure that many more guys than you would think would be willing to pay $1k if they KNEW FOR SURE that the gal would be very appealing to them and would "show them a good time." The problem is, of course, that $1k is a lot of money to just "take a chance." At $300 you'd be much more willing to experiment, particularly knowing that there are many gals out there at that price range who are both appealing and good at what they do. For the record, there's a gal I see regularly who asked for $300 at first, but at the same time told me, in an extremely nice way, that going forward her regular rate would be $500. I thought at the time, and still do, that it was a very smart approach that took into consideration the natural hesitancy on the part of most clients to fork over big bucks without really knowing what to expect. At any rate, everybody's different, but many would be willing to pay the $1k if it was the right gal for them. The question, of course, is how do you go about determining that?
I can imagine that it must be difficult to choose a provider. I've heard horror stories, and this isn't exactly the sort of industry that can be regulated for quality. The best way to find a great provider is probably by word of mouth, or getting to know and trust an agency. Otherwise, it's always going to be some kind of gamble. The question, I suppose, is gauging what you can afford to gamble.
That's a good idea, for the provider to lower the rate initially and then bring it back up. But there's also a huge risk in losing clients that way.
Speaking personally, if someone's interested but a little hesitant, I might meet with them for a drink just to introduce myself. I might waste my time, but if it will put someone at ease when a lot of money is on the line, I'm happy to do it.
