END OF MESSAGE

Who is cooking this Thanksgiving??

I know as always:) I am. I will be stuffing my bird right here at home:) I am really looking forward to the holiday season :)

I am considering starting a drive :) For those less fortunate :)  For the Christmas season :)a sort of toys for tots :)  Any interest in helping ? I am going to the Bike run later in the season and they can be given there :)This will be the 5th yr I will attend and although normally I only give from my home ...... Kendall

for the past several years, about a dozen of us get together, and volunteer to serve dinner at one of the local shelters. None of us have any family close to where we live, and we get just as much out of it as we put in. If you want to see a roomful of people giving thanks, and really meaning it, give some of your time to some people much less fortunate than we are. It's only one meal, but it means a lot to these families, who would otherwise be going without.

i think that's amazing....posts like yours put everything else into perspective.  Thanks....

sometime Kendall, I hope to be stuffing you!

sometime

For the past few years I spend the week of thanksgiving with a few other civis and collect food from the grocery stores and cook the meal at a local shelter..(thanks to my x, I learned to cook in Italy..so its always Italian meals) we do the same thing for Christmas..Last year we started doing the same for New Years Day

(the local grocery stores have been really generous and we make sure and do all our shopping at their stores)

I'm going for the allover bronze tan thang. Probably going to coat the fowl with a nice 15 year Balsamic.....

My bird is always plump, juicy, and firm to the touch.

The menu (sofar):

Artichoke & Crab dip for an appetizer....

Lobster Stew

15 pound turkey, brined with salt, OJ, apple and herbs....Roasted to perfection.

My "Gulf Coast" Cornbread Stuffin' with Andouliie Sausage, Platanos Maduros, chile peppers....

Whipped Sweet Potatoes with Banana's and Honey

Roasted Brussel Sprouts (Don't knock 'em 'til you've tried them)

Pumpkin, Berry, and Apple pies...

Haggen Daz......

The thing I'm looking forward to the most is my Bro' whose returned from a long naval deployment with......SCOTCH FROM SCOTLAND!!!!!!!

YEAH BABY!!!

Every year my neighborhood, organized with the local businesses, puts together food boxes for families....Nice thing.

T-Day is the best.

I let the ladies in my family do all of the cooking, but I will help out in shreading the bread the night before, and I am always good for arriving with several bottles of bubbly at the party.  Lazy...yes...party-pooper...no way!  I am good at grilling...not with the oven!

So my Thanksgiving Dinner will probably consist of some rather tasteless airport food.

But then Friday I will have the best Lobster-Crab-Dip this country has to offer, I've been looking forward to that one for weeks. Yummie. :-)
