I've been to Chesterfield area a lot. Seems to fit your criteria.
I'd stay away from downtown. Parking is difficult. On a recent date there, the provider had to come down to get me due to elevator requiring key card access. Not sure if that's the case for other hotels.
Airport isn't much better, except for one hotel east of airport on other side of 170.
I've never heard good things about Maryland Heights and Clayton due to apparent LE issues.
