I just read that the senator wants our state color to be purple, which I totally agree. With the passing of Prince and he Vikings, I think it would be a good move. However, I can't find what our current state color is?

But the MN State Flag is predominantly blue.

Adopting purple as our state color would be a fitting tribute to this giant of entertainment.

And furthermore the purple one said repeatedly in a beautifully written set of lyrics:

I know times are changing
It's time we all reach out
For something new, that means you too

You say you want a leader
But you can't seem to make up your mind
I think you better close it
And let me guide you to the purple rain

I dedicate the blotto that I will make of my mind and psyche this weekend to HIM

I would like to hear the cause of death before we act on anything like this.
I just want to make sure he didn't die from a drug overdose, before we honor him and make him a role model for our young people in Minnesota.

is he stopped breathing.  Cops and paramedics didn't make it there in time.  If he passed away because he was chasing the dragon who gives a shit.  If you get all republicunt you will lose the psych ops.

He was a great musician, and I think he should be remembered as one.  But before we imortalize him with honors like this, I want to know he is a worthy role model for our youth.

There are several entertainers, Gypsy Queen to mention one, How about John Denver as well.
And as Makwa points out, Bob Dylan aka Robert Zimmerman. I am sure that there are others that have not been mentioned as well.

According to the UK Daily Mail, he'd buy six month supply of Dilaudid pills (opioid) pills for $40,000 at a time.  The reason give was that he had stage fright and needed the boost for live performance.  However it is thought he died of Percocet overdose, as the doctors who proscribed it to him didn't know of his Dilaudid use and that he would probably use too much Percocet, in which the Tylenol overdose would cause severe risks.

Dylan was born in Duluth, grew up in Hibbing, but he first made his name in the music scene in Minneapolis.

... we're still waiting to find a perfect person for its inspiration.

Even the saints were also sinners.

Let's focus on how the man lived, not on how he died.  If his tragic death was in fact by an overdose, what a great if painful lesson for everyone, young and old, on the dangers of drugs.

...of the toxicology tests. The Governor of New Jersey faced fierce criticism for his decision to lower the state flag to half mast (just for one day) following the death of Whitney Houston. She was a world wide phenom and highly loved person in spite of her faults. Prince's influence on Minnesota and the world, too, is glorious and should be be highly celebrated. Yes, it's really unfortunate that it appears that there will always be an unfortunate footnote at the end of his C.V. I prefer to celebrate his life. He was a strong proponent for music in our schools and learning to play instruments, what he meant to Minnesota is incalculable.

Should we honor Prince any higher than we honor our fallen soldiers? No, of course not. We honor them differently. I note that in California and Arizona they name bridges and sections of highways in honor of the fallen. We could do more of that here. I do think that the Minnesota Governor should make a strong statement by honoring Prince's birthdate as a significant day of observance; renaming a bridge in his honor and expressing strong, very strong support in favor of bolstering music as a core curriculum in our schools. It's well proven that strong musical education = a higher intellect. Prince was a perfect example of that.

“So here’s how it is: you’ve got the Republicans, and basically they want to live according to this,” he said, pointing to a Bible. He added: "But there’s the problem of interpretation, and you’ve got some churches, some people, basically doing things and saying it comes from here, but it doesn’t. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum you’ve got blue, you’ve got the Democrats, and they’re, like, “You can do whatever you want.” Gay marriage, whatever. But neither of them is right.   -- Prince

Today's youth aren't going to care about Prince.  They're all about Katy Perry, Megan Trainor, and Girl Bieber.

What do you all think of the new $20 bill with Harriet Tubman on it?

I think I would have picked someone else, but she is not a bad choice.
But I always thought Jackson was a poor choice to be honored on US Currency.  Many North American Indian Casinos in the US will not use twenty dollor bills to pay winners.  (They have no problem taking your twenty).

Yes! I think what Obama has done to this state and others, is exactly what progressives deserve! Long live His Highness, our Lord and Savior Barack Hussein Oshit.

Self appointed judges judge evidently...shocking in this community.  Ever wonder if you've ever met a provider with a "problem" that you evidently have no taste for.  Well, from your review history you did and you paid her.  I think if the Purple One passed from an OD it may actually get the pharma wheel off the hinges and maybe we can stop prescribing pseudo smack like it's skiiddles.

Mr. Garrison, yes we know drugs are bad.  But I'd say everything Prince said prior to his last breath, possibly is worth um, memorializing.  F**k me if I'm wrong.
