Two thing one is there is no proof even if you went into the apartment something illegal happened. Second is plate numbers don't mean a whole lot unless you admit to driving the car or they can recognize you on video. It's the reason red light cameras went away, no proof the person who got the ticket was actually the driver.  
         I wouldn't get a lawyer until I was questioned and even than I d plead the fifth until I was charged. Don't believe the if you are honest we ll drop the serious charges crap. Tell them to charge you or let you go and don't bother me again. If charged than contact a lawyer and have them and only them talk to the police.  
 

In all seriousness, I've thought about this.  The risk is that the Uber/Lyft driver's real (first) name and license tag is known to the rider, and the rider's first name is known to the driver.

I'd rather have an arrangement with a few select, discreet providers - they call me in advance, I show up at their location, they enter the Uber request (so that I'm the closest car, of course; the system is set up that way), and off we go.  I arrange to wait until the appointment is over, then I show up at the outcall location and I'm the closest driver again.  To compensate for my lost rides and down time, they might have to agree to a "tip" above the fare.

I can think of a couple of ways to arrange the tips, now that I ponder it.

 At any rate, I drive a few evenings and weekends (less now that I actually have a job), so it's an interesting thought.

They don't even need to charge you with anything.  They can fuck your life over easily by just dropping by while your have a lovely dinner with the wife or while your at work.  Lets say LE in uniform shows up at your work and ask your boss to have word with you, got it? First if LE ever tried questioning me at work I would refer them to an attorney, second I d have a decent reason for co workers and if my job is that insecure I d probably find a new one. They could be there asking about an assault or robbery in your neighborhood, your dog getting off the leash and nipping or growling at someone. An accident you called in on your way to work. Loved one in an accident. There are a thousand reasons why you might have LE talk to you that don't mean you are a criminal.  
       If they are discussing particulars with your boss about a case that you are suspected in it could be considered harassment, esp if you have already talked to them. I m not saying they wouldn't. But they shouldn't and you need to stand up for your own rights if they do.

Yes, you can and should remember and invoke your legal rights at all times.  But it is even better if can avoid having LE even try to contact you so you don't have to deal with awkward or unpleasant questions from family, friends, and co-workers.

The reason for getting plate numbers is when they go in for the bust they can line up the car with the people inside.   Then I'm sure they are allowed a "search" type situation or will get a warrant to "search" the vehicles that line up.

Then quite possibly down the road for conviction a possible forfeit of the vehicle if warranted by the law.... ie: drugs found in car or what ever.

But again.... it is something to be concerned about if they got your license plate number.   But doesn't necessarily mean you will be getting contacted.

Consider the source, this is the third piece about Burnsville. Sounds like sour grapes. Somehow, a friend always knows the goings on, and relays the info to a disinterested party.

By itself it proves nothing.  But they might be able to use that information with other information down the road to think they should at least question someone and a lot of people get really nervous and more likely to blurt out something incriminating the longer that questioning lasts.  

One of the reasons M&Gs are so UTR these days is years ago there was one and afterwards there were reports that police had been seen in the parking lot of the gathering place checking license plate numbers.  Nobody liked the idea of their license plate number being recorded by LE even though it was just a social gathering.  This was not long before the mid-2009 take down of the MN Nice Guys and My Fast Pass.  Coincidence?  Maybe and maybe not.

The less they know about you, including your plate number the better.

The reason to run plates is to check for outstanding warrants. It is a common practice for LE while idling to check plates they see around them.

Then if they go in they get you doing something illegal or to match the plates with people they busted.

Tack on charges, parole violations,  get a reason to search vehicle, etc.

Because if they don't catch you in the apartment or in the act.   They cant prove a thing.   Because it isn't illegal to pay someone to sit and talk to them.   It isn't illegal to pay someone to give you a massage (for people who go to MP or Massage providers).....   What is illegal is doing a sex act for the exchange of money.

But again the LE can make your life hell if they chose to do so.....

I'm guessing they are not taking any info. Who ever told you they were are just trying to make you nervous. And it worked. LE is not going to waste time "taking" numbers for such a petty crime.

And when they run plates it does not stay in their system. Now if they give you a traffic ticket or a warning then your plate is in the system. A simple plate run does not.

Have you been to MOA in the last 5 years?  Have you ever seen a squad car in any city or on the highway that has an extra piece of equipment hanging on it?  You underestimate big police and big tech.

The plate reader you are talking about Wong only goes off if you plate is tagged for some reason.  I. E.  Stolen plate or expired tabs according to the computer. They have to physically put your plate into the system for it to ring off otherwise nothing happens.  What talon started here I call complete BS. No department is going to take the time to put in the tags of everyone going to an apartment complex for anything but a felony crime.  Last time I checked prostitution is not.

The government could save us all a lot of time, money, and effort by legalizing prostitution. Maybe one day...

I think it will happen but probably not in my lifetime.
