By carefully chosen I mean one where the traffic to the specific location is not obvious.

The decision to make an appointment usually happens before you speak about the location.
That said, private residences have been among my better experiences.

I have only met at a hotel once. But several very nice private residences. They can be decorated well have nice music, I even leave my favorite beverage there for when I return. Overall a much more personal and better experience

I will be the odd one out,  as I tend to do a fair amount of work in hotels,  its easier for me to Claim I'm having to work as my excuse to go to a hotel.

If you are becoming established in the business a private residence is the way to go. Once a guy knows where you are, it will be it is easier to plan future visits.

That said, nosey neighbors are an issue. Have a reason for people to stop by during the day. Be careful about what business you tell them as some are not allowed in residential areas. If you say massage, they can ask for your massage certificate.

I prefer a private residence where I get to be with the lady on her turf, I believe it may make her feel a little more comfortable and outgoing

That is the key.  Prying eyes wondering how many different cars can pull into one driveway or different guys walk up to a front door in a week.  Very uncomfortable.

I generally prefer private residence however, am open to hotels as well.  I am less picky on the location and more picky on the provider, their style and my experience with them.  I have had incredible experiences at a crappy hotel and a crappy experience at a nice personal residence.  People have already mentioned pros and cons but the nosy neighbors is a big one for me.  Welcome back, would love to find time to meet you some day.

..has been working for quite a few providers. Get buzzed in and find the apartment door inside which is left unlocked so your clients can walk right in at the time of their appointment.  I’ve never had a problem with that type of arrangement.

Any of the above work for me. However, I find decent parking a must and discreet entry. There are many pluses to a private residence too. Being able to keep any needs on hand such as fresh linens, snacks, beverages, toys, etc. When heading to hotel, knowing exactly where the elevators are ahead of time is best so not to draw attention. Multi unit apartment buildings with buzz in entry are good too, as mentioned above.
