A provider has asked me to pay via a Wal-Mart gift card instead of cash. Is this legit, a scam, or LE?

I am not saying that it is a scam but they typical way this happens is at some point you give them the verification number over the phone and you never see them. Might want to post a link to their back page ad so some of the internet gurus here can see if they have scammed people under a different alias. Stay safe!
it should be fine but if she wants it in advance of getting together I would reconsider the whole meeting
When I called her back to tell her I had arrived at Walmart and to ask her the amount, she hung up. Whatever.
You already learned all you need to know about her.
I'm going to tell you that it's a SCAM, stay away. A fool and his/her $$ will soon depart.
Other than avoiding carrying around large amounts of cash, I don't see the advantage of it and as has been pointed out if she gets the PIN ahead of time then she can easily skip out without actually meeting you.
Ad struck me as a giftcard paypack scam one earlier...
