New bars are always opening in the zona, remodeling or changing name. There is so much competition and just not enough chicas to work these place.  Texano Bar next to Chavelas has now been replaced with a beautiful little bar called La Botana 2000.  It's set up and remodeled as another zona strip bar.  Totally different than before.  It really is very nicely done inside.  The problem is that with all these little zona strip clubs they can't find enough hotties to work them.

They do seem to have their damn share of waiters though. I hate going into some of these zona small bars. The waiters bug the crap out of you the minute you walk in especially at the strip club places. The guys at the door at pretty bad as well. It's one reason I don't spend more time at places like Manhattan Club, Pollo and the like.  New York club also re-opened on November 15th and it's the same waiter and doorman hustle.

These zona bars are almost like Rev. All hustle. I hate to be buggged. I know they need to work and make money but I go to TJ and the zona to be left alone. Some of these bars seem to have more waiters than customers.

They have also finished the first section of street from the arch east to the first block Madero.  This is now plaza style without a street and curb and you can't drive this street any longer.  It is for walking only. They are also digging up the concrete around the fountain by the bridge.

On a different note, the new Sentri lane hours are now 4 AM to midnight every day starting today.  Hopefully they will eventually go 24 hours.  More news and TJ details are on our website.

Competition should be good for Zona & consumers. More bars & clubs will mean more chicas & places for us to enjoy. It will help keep prices at current levels or cause them to fall. It also will motivate businesses, clubs, bars, chicas to provide better services if they wish to succeed or survive. I don't understand why a club is unable to find enough chicas from Mexico, Central & South America, southern CA when Zona chicas can earn more than 10-30 times the average salary for a Mexican. Isn't it very easy to be a club chica, no education required, minimum age 18, and the work is like a party?  Perhaps the club needs to improve its recruiting process. How do the clubs currently recruit girls?

Some of the bars actually run ads in newspapers around Mexico.  Others simply hang a sign or it's word of mouth.  Remember that most of the girls in the zona are not from TJ.  Many don't want to come to TJ.  Some work in other cities.  Mexico is still a Catholic country and many women don't want to be putas and strippers.

The newer smaller bar strip clubs as well are much smaller and the girls can't make as much money so it's harder getting girls as well.  A girl can make a lot more dancing at Hong Kong Bar than at some of these small bars.  As well gringos are more comfortable in some of the bigger strip clubs or more heavily promoted strip clubs like Hong Kong Bar and Pollo Bar.  The smaller hole in the wall bars like the new Botanica and Kaos just aren't promoted.  Girls may see they aren't making much and change clubs.

Bars like La Tropa, New York Club and Manhattan Bar are not in the main zona loop.  Many gringos feel uncomfortable going to some of the clubs a block or so away or don't want to bother walking there.  There are a lot of mongers that basically only do Adelita's and Chicago Club.  This is their comfort zone.  Everyone does TJ differently.
